42F and clear @ 20:00 ... which is supposedly the overnight low (theoretically)

Got sides glued, nailed, and clamped on one squirrel feeder. Need brass screws to really secure them though ...

I see another trip to Menards tomorrow ...

Cleaned out bucket and moved critter food around back and into basement.

Hosed the dirt out of two more buckets.

Refilled sunflower seed tube feeders. The newer tube feeders (same model) at TSC are now shorter ... for the same price of course ... (they think we don't notice ...)

Put up two new suet cakes.

Installed bird bath on back deck rail, such as it is. Apparently not a lot of care was taken when the heating element on the bottom was glued in (it's off on one end) ... so it isn't exactly level and it also doesn't allow the screw for the mounting bracket to grab more than a few threads ... Will have to see what I can do with that, come Monday probably.

Gave the main picture window and one of the adjacent casement windows an initial cleaning on the outside ... was pretty cruddy. Will clean insides tomorrow, will probably have to hit the outside again.

Was closing things up downstairs when I noticed a bunch of ripples in the frog pond. Walked back out and saw there was a tree rat doing the breaststroke so I went back in and grabbed the small cat carrier and the 10' landing net. By the time I got back out there he'd made it to the first step and hauled out. Tried to pull himself up to the next step and barely made it, probably due to hypothermia. I opened the door to the carrier and set it down on the top step and used the landing net to shoo him in ... he seemed pretty willing to go.

Buttoned up the door and brought him inside and tipped the carrier up at a 45 degree angle and dumped some pine shavings in and then took him back into the fish room (probably the warmest room in the house) After that I tossed some cracked corn and some peanuts in, just in case he needed to replenish his energy reserves.

A couple hours late he seems to have mostly dried out and doesn't look too much the worse for wear ...:

Hope everyone had a great day.

Good evening. Was a beautiful day outside. Everything dried nicely.

So, Randy would be proud of me.... I switched hats today, became an upholsterer..... The wifey has a sitting / lounging bench that was in dire need of new foam. We had ordered some dense foam and some memory foam. It arrived yesterday, and wifey was anxious to get the foam installed. So, pulled about a thousand staples around the existing frame and got the fabric off in one piece! Woo Hoo! ( I did not want to have to buy another lounger).

Used the bandsaw to cut the 3" dense foam, then the 2" memory foam. We did not use the cheaply made original frame, so cut a new frame base from some ply. Got the foam all lined up, the upholstery all centered and pulled evenly. I used my pneumatic stapler and got it all secured to the base. Mounted it back on to the furniture base frame and....

WaaLaa! All done! Wifey is very happy! It is very comfortable, far better than the original. I only thought of taking one picture....

But.... all was not lost today... I did get to the hardware store and got all the fittings to make the dust collector. While there, they had a few bins of
"90% OFF" items, all sorts of stuff left over from when the store switched from being a True Value to Ace Hardware. I got a handful of twin pack jigsaw blades for $0.25 each pack, allen wrench set for $1, bunch of other misc. stuff for pennies on the dollar. They are still sorting out the merchandise, so I think I will have to go back....
