Good morning!!!!

Frist cup of coffee has been poured. 37° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 53° with sun then clouds in afternoon. Yesterday was another conserve energy day. Feel better but right ear is still a problem. Have a call into Dr. Hope to work on cellar door today.
There has been a lot of action at birdfeeders. Pictures like this one show how low my camera skills are. Right one is out of focus. Tufted Titmouse.

Looking, may be a good plan going into winter shutdown. Getting reports from northern MN of snow tomorrow.

David, your network project looks good. Way beyond what I need. 2 Netgear extenders are working for me.

Kyle, good to hear daughter is doing better.

MFW, no wedding predictions from me. Best wishes for a happy life.

Rick nice trailer.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Good morning all. Just moved the sheep into a side field. It will be my version of paradise for the next few days, now I can get to most places in the tractor without having to keep opening and closing gates.

Eric any idea on how the maize the British farmers are planting different from corn?
They plant specific varieties of maize that are optimum for when it is all chopped up together and placed in a sileage clamp to ferment.

Maize/corn is the same plant, from the genus called Zea. In agriculture it is called maize, which is the name for the entire plant. When cooked I know it as corn-on-the-cob (corncob), the kernels being called "sweet corn".

In Britain "corn" is the generic term for any cereal crop - wheat, oats, barley etc. It has been that way since Anglo Saxon times, from an old Germanic word - Korn. That same general name for grain also passed over the Atlantic, the first settlers calling maize "Indian corn". I see the early varieties of that are still around to this day Indian Corn Master Gardener Program

Wng, nothing like a good session of ladder climbing for exercising certain muscles. Are you feeling a little stiff today ?

Yes, stiff in the arms and shoulders from the long handled brush, but not in the legs...in fact I was planning on going to the mountains to climb Hightop Peak, but the fog is so thick, I couldn't find my truck earlier. So, more window washing, and I may look around and find a nap.

Warming up to 77 today, but they say the fog could linger until 11am.

Around here, we eat "corn" and the cows eat "silage." Indian corn is used for decorations.

Good morning to all! Low of 45, going for 78 today. The forecasters are only giving 'hints' of maybe some precipitation, maybe early next week, maybe....

I did not step foot in the shop yesterday, as much as I wanted to.... went grocery shopping, then back to some other errands in the afternoon. Wifey is implementing a new 'daily routine' due to my inability to sleep at night. The 'routine' started yesterday, I did sleep a little better last night, I will stick to it and see if it does make a difference.

I will get into the shop this morning, we are going to go to early voting this afternoon. Hopefully there won't be any lines.

Everyone have a great day!

Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 5:45 AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 90F. Winds light and variable.
Still under a Fire Weather Watch, and have received the first barrage of email, text, and phone call warnings from the utility that the power will be off Thursday during another "wind event".

Nice clear water, Ron. How did all those rocks end up piled in that one area?

No programming needed on the solar controller, Bruce, but I do want the electrical shunts hooked up and a TriMetric installed so that I can better characterize State Of Charge to battery voltage. I get battery voltage readings now, but have no idea how they correlate to how long the battery will last.

I remember those state stores in Ohio, Drew. Always seemed to be some old guy or gal behind the counter scowling at at each customer, as if passing some kind of judgement. In my case I'm sure it was because I'd just passed my twenty first birthday... Now a six pack or bottle of decent whiskey is as close as the grocery isle, and I can't remember the last time I got carded. Glad the new throne is as comfortable as you'd hoped. Long live King Drew!

Worked on white bike most of yesterday. The oil filter is a paper canister on these BMWs, and it's easy to install incorrectly. But this one took the cake. The Previous Owner did it wrong, and it leaked, so instead of figuring out how to do it right, he got out a tube of silicon seal and went to work. It didn't leak, but there's a good chance the oil pressure wasn't what it should have been, either. It ran fine during the test ride, and there were no big chunks on the drain plug magnet, but I'll know for sure if there's been engine damage when I cut up and open the old filter. Made some measurements, figured out it needed three shims installed and no gasket on the oil filter cover to get the right amount of compression on the so called "thousand dollar o-ring", and buttoned everything back up. Also took a look at the starter, and it's of a brand known for spitting out the magnets around the armature, so I'll get a better one ordered today. Two, actually, because the red bike has one in it, too. An upgraded charging system will also go on the order, as it'll see some cold weather use with the full fairing, and a few extra amps for grip heaters and an electric jacket will be appreciated.

Was just about to drift off to sleep last night when one of the smoke detectors started chirping.:confused3: It was the one at the peak of the great room ceiling, so out came the headband light and keys to the storage trailer to get the 8' step ladder, haul it up to the house, and get the thing down to change the batteries. Wasn't very sleepy after that, and it was midnight before Mr. Sandman finally put in an appearance. Think I'll change out the batteries in the other smoke detectors today to avoid a repeat performance, then set a reminder in my calendar to do it again in a year. During the day at a time of my choosing...

46°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 60° today. Expecting some more rain and possible storms this afternoon and into the evening, and more rain tomorrow. I'm still OK with this. The kitchen appliances were all blinking when I got home yesterday, suggesting that the power had been off for awhile.

Spent most of the evening in the studio programming some new guitar tones in the Line 6 Helix. I now have sounds similar to Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jimi Hendrix ... if I could only play like those guys. :confused3:

Congrats on the extended holiday, L4N. Seeing on the weather map that some areas up north here and in central Canada are already getting frozen stuff, seems like a good call.

Not likely to do much if any fishing from the kayaks, Mostly_. Neither of us were every really much into fishing. These will be for just some recreational paddling around on calm water lakes and rivers.
Yesterday I stumbled across a long hi-def video of a guy paddling on a quiet river somewhere. That's what I'm talking about. Tranquility.

Thanks for the etymology lesson on corn, Eric. I had no idea it had such a broad definition over there on your side. Learn something new here every day.

61 and drizzle early, 78 later I’m told. My grass has slowed dramatically and is turning brown, still undecided about taking the deck off, but either way I need to dress the driveway. I’d prefer to do it with the land plane, but I was hoping to be done mowing before I put it on, don’t want to be doing the on-off-on routine, plus it makes great counter weight for the loader. Looks like warm weather until the weekend, then not too bad. I’m going to hate putting the shorts away.
Grandson has a ballgame this afternoon, then two more late week to end the season, don’t want to jinx them but they are still undefeated. Tanner has become an excellent third baseman, I’m amazed at the talent level those 7-8-9 year old kids have.
Have a good and blessed day folks.

50F and cloudy @ 11:30, headed up to a high of 54F with some chances of rain in the next 24H.

Fixed wires on whole vacuum first thing yesterday and then pumped up the bladder in the pressure tank. Heard some gurgling that sounded like air bubbles while running water after that ... so I may depressurize the system again today, to see if the bladder is holding pressure.

Worked some more on cleaning off a sediment filter, needs the final bleach treatment today before I swap it out with the one currently in the system. Also cleaned furnace filter and a filter for another air cleaner.

Did some more straightening up in the basement and got a little work done on barn owl box. But spent most of the day working in fish room ... still more to go there.

UPS just delivered Surplus Center order. Rural King order is still showing as not shipped yet.

Agenda for today is get haircut then head into BoE to cast our votes.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

RNG, not rocks. A large Oak tree was cut down last spring. Hired company was suppose to remove everything. Has not been back to finish job or collect money.
