Luckily it wasn't as bad up here, my power was only out for about 12 hours. That was a bad storm though. For several years afterward when traveling through the hills of western Maine I was amazed at the utter destruction.

The mid coast really got hit hard back then. I remember watching the thermometer stay right around 30-32* four days straight with off and on drizzle.

The last time I heard trees make a loud noise was back in the (98) ice storm, I could hear limbs and trees snapping and crashing half mile away day and night, it was kinda eerie during the night.

That '98 ice storm was bad in my area. (Champlain Valley of VT , in the foothills of the Green Mountains). I moved to VT in 2001, and to our current property in 2002. Even then, the damage from that storm was obvious.

It's the quiet still drizzly dark air then the loud crash from all directions thats spooky. I was without power for a week then finally the sun started to come out glissading off the ice, then the ice started to drop off, a pretty sight but not as pretty as the army of power trucks.

Oldpath, can relate to this... 2018 November hunting season on the Blue Ridge, we had what we call the IcePocalypse. A full day of freezing rain, followed by temps that dropped into the upper teens over night, followed by a nice warming sun. No power... trees down everywhere, and frankly, you did not want to go outside in it. It sounded like we were in an artillery barrage with all the trees breaking under the weight of a half inch of ice. Never had seen anything like it. As sun melted the ice, we needed hard hats to be out clearing the roads so the power company could get in. Power was out for 5 days if memory serves. We did not have a back up generator and the well is 400 feet deep! We cleared the roads of all the debris so a run to the nearest HD could be made to get a generator.. that took a whole day in and of itself with all the problems and they had none! But the local guys equip dealer, once he could open, hooked us up! When the army of power trucks made it in, we sure were happy to see them!

I see you decided to use a munchkin saw, your arms must get sore to. Ever have the feeling you bucket ain't big enough.........

Small tree, no reason to drag out a big saw. And yes, sometimes I wish my bucket (and tractor) were bigger.. its a 6 foot bucket, the biggest one rated for my tractor I believe.
