Yes, the learning Curve

Cute little tractor and a fun video- Lots of good points made to.

That is a bad joke right?

I can see all those large outbuildings covered with solar panels charging batteries for the tractors and combines. A driverless mule would bring out freshly charged battery modules to be swapped out with the expired ones (just like changing batteries on your cordless drill). All without contributing to the fortunes of Big Oil.

It's not uncommon for a large tractor or combine to be burning 10-15 gallons of diesel per hour (or more for larger machines), if we go with the equivalent of 13GPH (a little over 200HP output) that is about 500KW per hour, or about 5 of the big 100kwh batteries that Tesla is putting into their cars.
That will require about 2.5 acres of panels per tractor to charge (if they are producing their rated capacity) which will cost about $500,000 to install, plus the cost of the 2nd battery

Not seeing that being worthwhile in anyone's book.

Only with government subsidies bit then the government don't have it either. Far as I'm concerned, it's all pie in the sky wistful thinking.

Go buy a Bolens Electrak and be happy. Lots of used ones around. Just replace all the shot flooded cell jars and go mow your lawn.

No- kind of a 1st attempt at a fully electric CUT
that is actually being built and sold.

Is it to expensive to be practical right now for anyone but the super rich?? YES

A novelty, but most tech advances start that way.
remember when the very 1st cell phones came out. they were very expensive with very limited coverage, short battery life and long re charge times.

Motorola Dyna Tac in 1983 only $3995- about 10 grand in todays dollars

Give it a few years, imo with more battery advances, costs Will come down and there will be electric tractors in many sizes and available at dealers lots. For the next few years I still think diesel is hard/impossible to beat.
Then again some of these tier 4 and approaching tier 5 emission systems/ problems could make electric tractors appealing. Rules already making older tier 3 and 2 tractors hold their value.

I know, I own two bigger (over 90 horsepower ones).....

" Rules already making older tier 3 and 2 tractors hold their value."

neither are for sale unless someone makes me an offer I cannot refuse, then maybe.:D

John Deere has an electric utility FWA tractor out in the mid power range (75-105 horse pto) but it's cost prohibitive (in the excess of 150 grand), has a projected 6 hour run time as well. None of that works except for some fat cat wannabe farmer.

You are correct, someday they will be commonplace, but I won't be here anyway, so for now, I'll stick with my oil burners.

The super rich have submarines and islands. Why would they want a battery tractor?

For inner city maintenance more and more city departments have in their contracts that equipment must be electric, pollution and noise is the argument. Here I Europe tractors are seen as a tool carrying vehicle and are very common in all kinds of use. So the market is growing fast on my side of the Atlantic.

Elon Musk BEST Motivation 2;)! | 1 Rules for Success - YouTube

It was only after Elon Musk started landing and reusing the first stage of rockets that I got really interested in the man and his teams behind him. His blowing up of big famous rocket engines motivated me to read what others had to say about the man and why they said what they said. This short video sums up hundreds of hours of what I learned.
