What do you think of a man that...

I grew up working on farms, mowing yards and church cemetery, riding dirt bikes and four wheelers, working in garages, splitting firewood, hunting, etc.. And in that time, kids would have gotten their azz beat for wearing sandles or flip flops for being the queer kid. My workplace for the last 27 years requires steel toe boots or shoes. So.....after a lifetime of needing more protective footwear and still active with the same lifestyle as growing up, that is practically all I ever wear. I wear jeans and steel toe work boots for nearly every thing. My kids call my dress shoes and clothes funeral clothes because that is the only time they see me in them. Sneakers are a rare occasion. Shorts are basically only when lounging around the house at night. I do have 1 pair of slip on loafer type shoes, and they are camo, just for taking the dog out. My kids call them my old man shoes, lol.

Otherwise I cringe every time I see a "guy" wearing Crocs, sandles, flip flops or whatever, especially when doing "guy" things. Sorry, but yup, I'll judge what type of man you are by it, lol.

It's the same as not carrying a pocket knife. No respectable country boy ever leaves the house without a good pocket knife....or in girl shoes! LOL.

I don't pre-judge a man by his footwear, but I spent my career in warehouse and assembly plant environment. The pace at which we worked and the hazards there dictated sturdy work boots (American made Red Wings were my choice- be advised, half or more of their boots are made in China these days, check the tags.)
Most of my post-retirement work is such that foot protection is a must.
I sometimes have nightmares of being in the assembly plant barefooted.
I don't like wearing flip flops: Hard to keep on my feet, and the piece between my toes is a major irritation.

Rgr that. Been carrying one since I was 5. And they can plant me with either my Spyderco or my Benchmade. :)

Never tried Crocs but I would think my feet would sweat since they are made of thermoplastic. Skechers Dual-lite are about all I wear now. Lightweight, breathable and comfortable.

I am a 60 something sandal wearing tractor owner/operator. I wear them as slippers in the house and another for the beach and then there is the good pair for travelling and being south. However I don稚 find them appropriate footwear for any occasion were safety, protection or traction are a concern for me.

I wear Bates work boots with reinforced toes and metatarsal protection for 10 hours or more a day at work. First thing I do when Im done is throw on a pair of flip flops when Im done for the ride home
Gotta let the feet breathe, and zero feelings of reduced manhood.

Yeh well, I judge people by how judgy they are, so...

Btw, you'd have a big problem with eastern europeans and asians. Look at some youtube vids of them farming, they're all wearing sandals while riding around on their shifeng tractors (when not repairing them...while wearing sandals).

+1 on Spyderco Knives, my first one was about 1985...

And it would be difficult to carry my many boot knives wearing flip-flops.

Along with other carry items, my EDC is a Boker Auto, and a double action OTF Auto knife, both have a 3.25" blade.

+2 here, although I don't carry a knife everywhere I go.
