Tractor
Kioti DK50SE w/ loader and Woods 90x backhoe, Allis Chalmers C with front snowplow
I've got a DK50SE hydro will this rotella oil be good? I generally use 424 but this is a substantial cost savings, almost half the price unless I buy bulk 424 and I don't have any pails to use right now and even at that the rotella is still 13 dollars a bucket less

How much tractor/transmission fluid do you use annually?
Why not just use whatever your Kioti dealer sells?
No guessing required, if you use mfg. approved fluids!
A tractor is a relatively expensive item.
Hydraulic fluid is a relatively inexpensive item!

In a hydro, I would only use Kioti hydraulic fluid. No exceptions. I use the Rotella in one of my M9's but it's gear drive. Seems to be a good oil, time and an oil analysis will tell.

That 424 stuff isn't formulated for a hydro in the first place.

Unless something has changed the Rotella HD tractor and transmission fluid is Spirax S4 TXM which replaced Donax TD.

Lol, that's laughable, 424 is specifically named in the manual as an approved fluid, it's used in hydrostatic drives in construction fleets without issue, I'm not looking for a "use manufacturer oil" lecture, I'm asking about a specific brand and for info from people who know about it

So then it should be equivalent of Donax which is listed in the manual, should be ok then I'd think

Because I'm not paying out the *** for tractor fluid when there's equivalents and better for less money and I'm already paying for a 140 dollar hydro filter which is nuts. Not looking for a lecture, asking a simple question

I did, I use it. and it is Donax renamed. Candidly, I don't care if you whizz in the gearbox.

And here I am using an even higher priced fluid for it's winter characteristics and better performance in hot and cold weather.
Cen-Pe-Co multi purpose.
As my starter didn't have enough power to crank over my power shuttle in the winter.

Why come here and ask the question since you know the answer?Just curious ?? Love folks who buy expensive tractors then want to cheap out for filters and fluids.Laffin.

LOU... I deal with the same cold weather in the winter as you do, maybe a bit colder and the Rotella Hydraulic fluid (Donax) flows as good as my Chevron THC that is my other tractor. I was pretty impressed.... At basically 1/2 the price of the Chevron.

Many companies gouge customers on the consumables. They get someone else to make it and then sell it at a huge markup. The same stuff may be 1/2 the price of the branded items.

Well fellas I just went to the local Kubota dealer and bought 12 gallons of UDT.
Could have ordered Mobile 424 from NAPA but didn't want to wait two days. I had a mess on the floor and oil pans full of old fluid.

This topic seems to be a favorite to overthink.....speaking of......got my BlackStone lab analysis of the NAPA hyd. synthetic fluid and said it was good for another 400 hours.
Then the fun began. Removed the hydraulic filter and dumped five gallons trying to coat the floor with it, as the filter was removed and the new one installed.
That was when I said why mix five gallons of old with new. So went to dealer and got 12 gallons. Done and done.......

So at least till it hits 1k hours. I've learned that it seems each Kioti dealer uses their own local vendor for the fluid.
So look at the specs and get what ya likes and enjoy the tractor.....

Nice thing about hydraulic fluid is it cleans up pretty easy with water and some detergent. I use ZEP and my pressure washer. Makes my messes vanish quickly. Used to use Purple Power from TSC but Zep works better and leaves no residue.

IF you feel comfortable with NAPA Gold filters they can cross reference your part numbers.
I went to WIX website and got my numbers. NAPA cross referenced the Wix numbers to NAPA, ordered them and paid 139 for both.

Course it's all about one's comfort level.
I share this not to create a which filter is better, but to offer an alternate solution.
So hope it doesn't get hijacked.

Not sure why people are referring to Shell Rotella HD as "cheap."

Folks have no complaints on running cheaper stuff, stuff like Travelers.

I went with Rotella after cross-checking it (a major on-line retailer crossed the Mobile 424 to this). My dealer replaced "Kioti" hydraulic fluid with "Mahindra." Hard-pressed to think that these two fluids are better than Shell.
