This weekends seat time was mostly in the pickup, spent 2 1/2 hours driving to look at a 3 foot flail mower and 3 hours returning with it,
then Sunday getting it unloaded and hooked up to the tractor for a short trial run.

still need to decide just were to mount the controls and how and also to make a pair of shoes for it, to raise it and make it more stable when not hooked up.

Nice score Lou! Should be a very good match for the Branson.

I dug and pinned a footer today. It sure is a pain to put the pins in rock. I know you could drive them in the side of the ditch but I don’t like doing that. They’re too easy to bend out of place. After the backhoes work was done I used it for shade over the transit. Before any safety police have a stroke the M59 loader has a safety prop. IMG_8900.JPGIMG_8898.JPGIMG_8899.JPG

So why do you pins in rock for footing? doesn't look like your on a side of a mountain.

They’re grade markers for concrete.

Looks like you drilled for the pins, and then you have pins going in the side of ditch holding a board, whats that for? No I dont know much about pouring concrete, all I know is make a form out of planks, put rebar in, call a guy to call the cement people to come and pour.

If you started pouring the concrete level pretty quickly you’d run out of the ditch or taper to nothing. The wood boards are steps that will later be taken up by block. Each board is the height of a block. The pins all on they’re own driven into the side are easily bent out of place. The board is hammered into place and then screwed onto the pins. It’s reasonably sturdy. Also it remains visible so they won’t be accidentally hit with rakes like the grade pins probably will be.

Just think of the fun you could have if your footings had to be 4 feet down.

That would be close to impossible here. You can hardly ever dig that deep here. You’d be rock hammering for months.
