I got all excited about a kubota powered Multiquip at a very close auction last summer. Found out it ran at 3600! How could they?

They are quiet on account of the housing, nothing else. Onan has a tuned exhaust on their quiet diesel line.

Ford is really rolling out some interesting features on their new F150, and the generator capability is fascinating. Up to 7kw...
and all this time we have been hooking up gens to our tractor pto's, now perhaps we can just plug the truck into the house.
Honda and Champion marketing depts won't like this...
They didn't mention cost so no idea of competitiveness but sure seems like a cool feature for a handyman or carpenter to have.
And no maintenance either.

Thnx d.... hadn't seen that before. Makes a lot of sense, in a few respects. Auto makers have spent the last 25 years integrating a ton of tech (much of which I have little use for - real need in other words) into vehicles, so it's about time this arrived in a pickup.

People love convenience, so I expect this will sell well.

In jurisdictions where it's still legal to ride the back of a p/u, I can see the videos now........ guy riding down the interstate, welding in the back of a truck .

Nice concept, too bad you have to get the hybrid to get the 7kw setup.
Also I'd say they were a tad optimistic on what they could be operating.
If a person wanted a F150 hybrid and got that 7 KW system I could see that as a good low usage whole house system,
nice for evenings or low usage households.

I have a 7kw portable gas generator. It runs everything I need in the house. Of course you need to be smart about it. Don稚 run the water pump, microwave, both boiler pumps and a coffee maker all at the same time.

When the grid is down I still want my creature comforts but am willing to load manage.

Now, all that is pretty funny! I keep hearing on here, how stupid it is to put hours on your tractor running a pto generator, but it's going to be OK to run your $50 or $60,000 dollar pickup for hours on end to get electricity??? lol lol

I don't see it in my future, but Ford and others have made billions by not underestimating how much money people will throw @ pickup trucks....

For somebody that needs mobile AC at this level, there are some attractions, esp. for business use....

I still think the big issue with a pto set is that the tractor isn't protected against a failure that could ruin it. I know SR doesn't agree with me on that one.

Also, the bigger the tractor and set, the less sense it may make. Seems kind of wrong to run a fridge, freezer and some light bulbs, a water pump now and then, with a 150hp tractor. lol

I especially don't like the tractors running at such high rpm to meet 540 spec/freq. Maybe no reason, I just don't like it.

I am sure they did their homework but still puzzled. The feature could be attractive to people who have to work off grid. But how many off grid types will buy a hybrid pickup?
