There is/was a kook in France promoting compressed air powered automobiles. Totally ignores the huge energy loss of compressing air (which gets hot) then expanding (gets cold). All that "hot air" is lost energy. Plus compressed gasses are very dangerous especially at the pressures necessary to extract useful work.

There has not been any real breakthroughs in battery technology in over 18 months...what makes the Nikola a breed apart from battery vehicles is their hydrogen fuel cell vehicles...

this and other non battery vehicles are the future of electric vehicles...battery powered vehicles (with current (NPI) battery technology) are just a flash in the pan and have no real future...

I wouldn't say that. For users where capacity fits their requirments, the cost of ownership and battery replacement might be an issue.

Was not referring to inner city transports etc., etc...for that even the current tech is OK...but for most that use pick up trucks etc. current battery tech will not suffice in a majority of applications...
Now a hydrogen fuel cell or similar unlimited power source is another ball of wax entirely...

As long as it last long enough for me to get my work done. Kinda like my corded makita and battery one. And i'll allow you to put your chinese batteries, where they'll do the most good.

I think a read he now has all 7 homes in CA listed now.

Like many businesses CA becomes toxic the bottom line due to regulations (indirect taxes) and the overt taxes.

Tesla will be in CA for years but that does not have to apply to Elon Musk if he wishes to do otherwise. We can see he is working his way out of the CA business community like by moving to NV and TX so far. TX is a hot start to reside in for those building valuable companies. New factories will be built outside of CA. For example CA may be home of the Tesla van since its market will be in part where the Boring Company is getting contracts. The factories in CA may be more into servicing niche markets. I expect by the time they have 5 giga factories one new one will be build in the USA with better shipping from the east coast. On the other hand Musk's girlfriend may lead him back to Canada it he is going to get much time with his last son if she goes "home" some day.

China is the EV capital of the world when it comes to number of EV makers period. US and Europe will be niche players but China will rule the battery and EV vehicles the rest of our life times I expect. Tesla had good reasons to build the first factory outside of the USA and chose China based on those reasons. There are ships to cover Asia and trains to Europe.
