...I Started wearing one in Walmart but my glasses kept fogging up and I took it off. About 1/2 of the people do not wear one.

If air is leaking enough to cause your glasses to fog up when you breathe out, it's also leaking when you breathe in. Not good if there's virus in the air. Fool around with the metal clip that goes over your nose, pressing and bending it until the fogging stops. Then you've got a good seal and the mask is doing everything it can for you. Otherwise, you're more or less just going through the motions, "enjoying" the inconveniences, and none of the benefits.

I went "shopping" today as well. I'd say half the people had some kind of mask on, the majority were cloth improvisations running anywhere between tailored (and brightly colored) jobs that hung from their ears, to one guy with a very trim looking what looked like an N100 with a particle filter backed up with a cartridge of some sort.

My N95 was fished out of my toolbox top, had been used in the shop for neigh on six months, and looked like something that came off a Mad Max set. About half way through my morning, my nose started running and I wanted to sneeze and cough, but was able to suppress both. Probably allergies, as I was a week late on my shots, and absolutely everything is blooming out here. But it was also fogging my glasses, and with a bit of fiddling, I got it to stop. And in another 14 days I'll know if I dodged another CoVid-19 bullet, which I'll elaborate on tomorrow.

Just fyi...Saw this chart this afternoon on life of the virus. I've seen similar but different numbers from other sources. Surgical mask is the worst shown.

Seems about right, and in four days or so, I'll be able to bring the non-perishable goodies I snagged today inside the house. Until then, they're stashed in the UV and temperature rich environment of the truck's back seat.

All except that 750 of Whistle Pig rye, which was easily disinfected, and quite tasty.:cloud9:

My favorite to give to the psychos was a cocktail of 5mg Ativan, 5mg of Haldol, and 5mg Diazepam..... calmed their arzzes real fast...

I looked on Amazon for that, Ted, but came up empty handed. Would have come in handy "shopping" today.

You holdin'?

We have an ongoing project experiment at work, that has to do with N95 filter cloth and micro particles. The particles can actually burrow into the filter cloth fairly far, so I recommend putting N95 masks in the oven at 170F for an hour.

Was it you that posted this link to the mask material testing, Kyle? If not, it may be of some help in your efforts. Either way, best of luck!

I'm more of a Friar Tuck than a mop top, as the bit in the middle seems to have gone AWOL. But that hasn't stopped the rest of it from growing wild. I emailed my barber, suggesting he sell gift certificates if he's running low on cash, with the caveat that it would also mean lower income when they were redeemed, and he seemed open to the idea. But I also included a warning that I would be more shaggy than my usual once per quarter, and I think he's dreading it as much as I am.:laughing:

The state of NM now has 794 cases of Covid19, 13 deaths. There are now 66 cases in Santa Fe county (where we live). Looking at the surrounding states, we are far lower in the numbers. I am curious if it is due to population density or other factors...

I suspect we have the same problem here, Ted. Only 13 confirmed cases, one just today, but there's a profound shortage of test kits, and you have to be suffering obvious symptoms before you're allowed to be tested. So they've really got no idea how many are infected here, and what kind of pent up demand for thin hospital resources there will be. Best case I can think of for hunkering down and staying out of Dodge.:grumpy:

36 right now...high in the mid-50's and snow showers...no accumulation though. Next couple days aren't going to be as pleasant as the last two days...

I haven't been keeping track of the COVID cases in Vermont. Most are, as expected, in the more populated areas up north. Like most states, "non-essential" businesses are closed and I hope this doesn't result in permanent closure. This situation is going to be very tough, if not disastrous, for Vermont... The state is monitoring cars coming in to the stae.

Good morning all. With almost no wind and light cloud, it is another day of being spoilt for choice on what to do. A great day to spend a little time on the mk 2 range in between jobs. How is your shooting bench coming along Bups ?

Can I put ten quid on the one forth in the last photo.
Haha, now you know the real reason they have numbers on their sides ;)

Do little lambs really eat ivy, Eric?
Only when the horses have eaten all the porridge. Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey ...

Many versions of that song, I quite like this Beverly Kenney version, a little different to most.

The first of several new "Nightingale" hospitals in the UK has been put together in just 9 days. Built within a huge exhibition centre, it is now admitting Covid-19 patients. At the moment it is accepting 500 patients and will later go up to 4,000. So good to see everyone coming together with a "can do" attitude. A few years ago I was one of the people writing the code for the 20 new panels that have just been put in to extend the fire alarm system to the new wards. We tested it extensively to be "plug and play", with the minimum of setup time. Hopefully, unlike the air in that building, that code will remain bug free.

54 outside this AM, heading to lower 80's today. May be a good day to finish the weed whacking and recover the broken pressure washer from the back of the barn.

Should finish the property perimeter with the bush hog, but that may involve chain saw work. Not up for that,

Attempted a pickup of a food order made 6 days ago. That was a bust. 1/2 of what we ordered was out of stock. Including my favorite beer. Needless to say, depression set in. LOL.

Ran inside two other stores for essentials, ice cream, TP, Napkins, yeast, chicken......no joy. Both clerks said end of day most items sold out. Yikes. Guess I'll have to join the crowds in the AM rush.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

Good morning, the temp is 37°F and the high is gonna be at least 45. Wind N 6 mph. 60% chance of flurries.

To the best of my knowledge there are no cases of CV-19 in my county. The local hardware store is allowing no customers inside the store. You phone them, tell them what you want, they go get the item(s) and then they collect the money. You stay in the parking lot. That system might work for others, but it didn't work for me. I bought 4 bolts with nuts for my loader frame and when I got home I soon found out the bolts were too long and the nuts didn't even fit the bolts I got, nor did the bolts fit the holes, too big. They had a sample to go by and still got it wrong. They only get 50% of the blame, because I didn't check BEFORE I left the parking lot.

I am going to take today as it comes.

Have a safe and healthy day all
