instead of a thousand bucks from the government I would rather have 30 n-95 masks and a quart of purell.

I think it is too bad we can't all get N-95 masks. It looks like it would help. Even if every one wore cloth surgical masks it seems like it would help contain the droplets that you breath out.

If you look at the definition...well down the list you will see this:No that was the stock market crash, and subsequent "Great Depression".
a sudden widespread fright concerning financial affairs that results in a depression of values caused by extreme measures for protection of property (such as securities)
My orchard is within the strict 'shelter in place' SF Bay Area region - Sonoma County. We're home in town over in the Central Valley subject only to the statewide cautions, elderly stay home etc. I would love to be over there.I heard if things get bad enough they may restrict travel. I am kind of counting on being able to get to the farm to keep from going stir crazy at home.
The coronavirus saved our car. We were supposed to be at friend's house for coffee this morning. They called it off a couple days ago because of our bad immune systems. This morning a big tree fell across their driveway right where our car would have been parked. It would have hit right in the middle of the roof. Whew!

Daughter (in SF region and working from home) thinks if things get worse I would be at risk of hijack being on the road when no one else is, or just by being in there when burglars would expect the small farmhouse there to be vacant.
Risk of personal safety hadn't occurred to me. Both home and ranch are in areas that are peaceful, violent crime is unheard of. But daughter said they went to a sporting goods store near her home (SF and Silicon Valley area) Sunday and it was jammed with first time firearms customers in long lines. Strange times.
If we had a million ventilators, who would man them? People are knee-jerking this a bit. More important IMHO to ramp up production of masks to limit exposure than fight the virus once it is spread. Same with gloves and hand sanitizer. Simple and effective measures we can put in place quickly. Masks are easy to make compared to a ventilator and cheap. YouTube videos of how to use them correctly. This is not rocket surgery.
We need to accept a LOT of people are going to die. Not everyone can be saved. The issue becomes. do a LOT die or a **** OF A LOT?
