When I joined the US Navy, I was sent to Samsun Turkey to board my ship (1971),,
At the Turkey airport, I went in the men's bathroom, and looked in the "stall",,

Well, what was there was a 8" diameter hole in the middle of the floor,, and a water faucet at the side of the stall,,
No TP, heck, nothing was porcelain,, just concrete,,

I guess they used the hand wash trick in 1971 in Turkey,,,??

Also, EVERYONE collected TP when we were in Spain,, brought it back to the ship,,
then, wrote a letter home on it,, ending the letter with
"P.S.,, this letter is written on TP from Spain!!"
The paper was pretty close to brown grocery bag paper,,,

Speaking of bidets...this is a true story...

We have a cement frog that spews a stream of water into an in ground stone birdbath (gravity fed no pump)...for several years there was one gray squirrel that would stand backwards on the frog and hang its butt out over the stream...The only pics I had were lost on a corrupted SD card...but it was funny to see...

Have also seen humming birds fly back and forth through the stream...

Driving to work this morning, I saw a scruffy looking individual standing on a street corner with a large pack of TP.

My first thought was that the local drug dealers must have moved onto something more profitable.

Years back in Mexico a hotel 'Loo' had footprint shapes in the tile floor each side of the 'hole' in order to improve your aim.
The 'loo' was located in about an 8ft X 8ft tiled room that also served as the shower.
Economical engineering I guess it was.

On the subject of TP.
With the current virus scare there is not a roll to be found in any supermarket around here.

Profiteers are planning to make a killing I guess.
One person that was interviewed said he'd already made $1000. selling TP on social media.
Some major outlets have instituted a maximum limit on TP.

Crazy world out there.

:laughing:. . . I was at my tire store today getting my winter tires changed and the manager said he was going to get one (a bidet) but can't find one, everything "sold out".

The Romans used sponges, rinsed after every use. Ever been on a long camping trip...? Leaves work pretty well too.

The "toilet seat" bidets come with a tee fitting arrangement that you plumb to your cold water feed for your toilet. You do need a 120V GFCI receptacle near the toilet to energize the heater, pump and blower. The hand held remote runs off off AAA batteries. We installed the GFCI behind the toilet during a renovation. The power source maybe problematic for an existing bathroom. I don't think extension cords would fly with my little lady. Happy Wife, Happy Life.

I went to Wal-Mart around 2:00 AM hoping to beat the morning crowd to the toilet paper. The toilet paper shelves were empty.

As is Sam's. We started to place our usual paper goods restocking order yesterday. Shocked that there has been a run (pun intended) on TP.

No strain here though; we have a good stock of Bounty and napkins.
