Good morning all. After a couple of days away, I returned home yesterday to a toasty warm house and a wife who was happy as could be at having decided to take on the challenge of lighting the fire in the kitchen range. Although easy to keep going, it can be a little intimidating to start up in the morning, previously she has relied on the heat pump when I have been away. I have been told I can keep my job as chief fire maker - for now, although maybe she is only saying that until she works out a good supply of kindling. My days of being useful around the place could be coming to an end ... now where can I hide the manual for the Iseki ? Or would you say that is a bad idea Thomas ? :)

Randy, that is some dump wagon ! Why not do it in style though if you can, you just made me realise that come full retirement time, the dump run will become my only regular journey.

Wng, I also had snow hopes this morning, however when I looked closer, the "snow flakes" I saw in the wind driven rain eventually settled on the grass as soggy very short lived cherry blossom.

Ron, interesting to see pictures of black squirrels, are there many where you live ? There are said to be some in this country, thought to be the the result of a genetic mutation in the grey invaders which have all but taken over from our native reds.

Wow, didn’t know they were so rare there. Toronto is full of black squirrels!

35 now, headed to 43 today, flurries and cold tonight and tomorrow.

Here we have all kinds of squirrels, gray, red, fox, Wicomico, which are about 10-15 % larger than other squirrels. Occasionally we see black, spotted and very rarely a white one. Those are usually mutant grays.

About 40 degrees this morning, going for a high of 47. I got about .51" of rain last night, and our ground was already saturated. If it ever gets dry enough, I'll definitely need to mow. And of course by July we'll be wishing it would rain.

shopping done, snow shovel and long electric cords brought up from barn, and thankfully little Champion 3100 inverter gen started right up.
looks like I'm done for awhile, energy conservation planned.
Let's see, I could duct tape the little snow blower onto the front of the UTV, put the generator in the bed, and I'd have my own snow plow!

Good morning to all! Low of 26 currently, only forecast for a high of 36. Surprisingly, there is a heavy fog outside and a very fine drizzle, but nothing seems to be freezing. I confirmed my outside temp and compared it to the wunderground reading, that one was lower by a degree... strange there is no snow or sleet at the freezing temps.....

Drew, sorry to hear about you winter weather... sure seemed like spring was there already! Do not push the snow blower too hard, you definitely do not want to aggravate your neck pain.

Bruce, mmmmm, coffee cake... a favorite accompaniment to.... well, good coffee :licking:

WNG, you would be all set with your fresh roasted beans if you had some of Mostly s coffee cake....

Today s agenda is taking wifey down to the city for her nail job . Gotta keep her claws in top shape..... they come in handy for that occasional itchy spot I cannot reach:dance1:
Then I get to go to HD or Lowe s to pick up the hinges and metal sheet for the end table doors. I might get a chance to start making the rough cuts for them today. I got a few coats of finish on the tables yesterday, today I will get the final coat on and get them buffed. Here are a few pics of them.

Everyone have a great day!

26°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 32° today. Going down into the teens tonight, before warming to near 60° by Sunday. Seems Winter is not done with us here just yet.

Chickens have been laying more eggs again lately. We got down to zero per day for a couple of weeks around the holidays, then they slowly started picking up again. Two to three a day for awhile is now six or seven. We're even finding the occasional duck egg as well. I guess they're finding the longer days agreeable.
