What did you do on or to your LS Tractor today?

Got out on big blue today.... did some grading with the box blade in front of my son s new garage. I had to remove about 6 inches of dirt to get it level and ready for stone. There were areas that were still damp, almost muddy. The other side of the area was hard as a rock! The scarifiers basically made grooves, hardly breaking out any chunks. Took me a lot longer than I expected... about 6 hours of seat time. Felt good!

Did a few mods over Christmas and New Year vacation.

Grooved my tires, air ride seat, speaker upgrade, and a tool box. IMG_20200105_095135.jpgIMG_20200103_125624.jpgIMG_20200103_125610.jpgIMG_20200104_124741.jpgIMG_20191214_135641.jpg

I like the grooves! Did you do them by hand or did you make a jig? What tool did you do it with?

Tell us more about your speakers and new seat please.

Which model tractor do you have? Your profile indicates ... you may be a secret agent?
New Holland Boomer 40 is the XR3140.

Speakers were kicker csc5, which are 5.25".

Seat is AI Products, MSG95GS. I bought the suspension only and reused my current seat.

I did them with a grooving iron. Ideal I think was the brand iron. Pretty much free handed so no jig. Grooved a row and copied it as I rotated the tire.

Did a couple grooves this summer to help with lateral stability and that went so well I finished the job. You'd be surprised how much traction is improved.

Did you have to do major modifications to install your 5 1/4” speakers?

Not really. You have to trim the opening back to about the screw holes that hold the factory speakers. So about a 1/4" off but the plastic in the headliner is pretty stout. A hot trim knife works great.
