31° going to 46.

Tree still up. When I had real trees it got taken out in a tarp. Still got lights on my fence.
One year we didn’t take down tree till Groundhog Day.

I pull labels off pill bottles, but some I just throw in trash. Who cares I take a statin.

Have every bill etc for the last 40 yrs. boxes of them on a basement shelf. Periodically I move them from file cabinet to the boxes. Most are pretty organized, except medical ones.
I kept every letter received from my Disability this year, most say nothing important but I kept them.
Social security sent me a notice last week that they didn’t find that I was disabled with GBS.
I’m back to work, so guess they were right? Still have problems with feet and legs.

Poured first cup of coffee. 32° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 41° with sunny skies and wind. Not much got done yesterday. All Christmas stuff is put away. May be the same today. I am doing 20 + minutes each day on exercise bike. Usually 10 minutes at a time. But have done over 15 minutes keeping heart at 110 bpm.

Wngsprd, good you mentioned generator. I remembered that my whole house generator was sputtering a little when it first started up to do it's weekly run. Needs new plugs. It's on the list.

Good Morning All.

Price on recumbent bike still higher than I want to pay.

Good morning to all! Low of 30, only up to 42 today. The wind started ripping through last night, woke me up a couple of times. Still windy / gusty now, hopefully will die down this afternoon. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, hit 60 degrees, calm. Wifey opened some windows for fresh air. Not today....

Son got over half of the garage ceiling insulated. He only mentioned one time that it was harder than he thought it would be.... I did not say anything.... as much as I wanted too....

Today is errand day, take wifey grocery shopping, gather all the trash, maybe some shop time.....

Everyone have a great start to the week! Prayers sent.

28°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 47° today.

Enjoyed the time off around the holidays this year. Been off 11 of the last 14 days, and I didn't hate a second of it. Got a lot done ... and by a lot I mean I took a lot of naps.:D Filled in a bunch of the between naps time doing honey-do stuff.

Wife took her year-old Kia Niro in to the dealer Tuesday for them to check the idiot light on the dash. Apparently, the factory did a poor job of stripping back too much insulation on a wire at a connector, and the exposed wire started to oxidize and lose connection. Easy fix, but she sat there for almost four hours. While she was there, she also asked about an appointment for me to have my Soul checked for a couple of issues. They got me in Friday morning to check on a couple of pending recalls, one of which involved a catalytic system sensor. It also has been burning some oil over the last few months. Not wanting to sit there for four hours, I got a rental and went home. The service guy called later that afternoon and said that the oil issue was related to the recall, but they were going to have to order a new converter (as well as a new turn signal switch, also a recall item). So, the rental now became a complimentary loaner until my car is ready sometime this week. They gave me a 2020 Nissan Rogue. I've always kind of liked the way those look, but the new ones have more angles and fewer curves. Not a big fan of that angular look. It drives fine, though, and has SiriusXM satellite radio, so I'm good.

Whew ... lots of catching up to do here.

Happy (belated) Birthdays to Mrs. Bird and Roy.

I had an eye-opening experience once regarding the windshield on my '89 R100RT. I was taking a ride into Edwardsville IL one Saturday morning ('91 or so, I think), and decided to go through the Southern Illinois University campus. It's a beautiful campus with lots of winding roads. There is a stretch of highway from the interstate to the campus that is a couple of miles of straightaway. That morning, I decided to see how fast that thing would go. I laid down on the tank and slowly twisted the throttle. When I got to about 125mph, two things became evident to me; 1) the windshield was wobbling like it was a sheet of paper in the wind, and 2) the pavement was going by under me at a rather alarming rate. I was immediately reminded of the folly of my plan when I looked straight ahead at the sticker on the inside of the faring just under the windshield, which said, "DO NOT EXCEED 85MPH WITH WINDSHIELD IN PLACE!" Yup, good advice. Between that and the sudden thought of blowing a tire at that speed, the throttle twisted back down. Never did that again.

Glad you survived your failure without decapitation.

I think part of the Clearview shield's problem is that is considerably taller and wider than the stocker, and that causes a LOT more wind resistance than the material can stand. But the root cause was that the holes that attach the shield to the bike were very oversized, and located far too close to the outer edge of the shield. The two main ones at the bottom center of the shield (see photo) broke out, which caused the side supports to be overloaded. Then they broke, too. My road speed that day was around 65 MPH, but the winds were gusting between 40-50 MPH, often from directly in front of me.

There's a similar sticker to the one you mention, I think on the rear fender under the seat, that cautions about exceeding 70 or so MPH with the saddlebags loaded with more than 20 lbs. each. I don't pay much attention to that one, either.

A cloudy 23ºF for today's low temperature. *The snow started falling ~7:00AM; presently 26ºF and it is still snowing. *I anticipate today's high to range around 32ºF with intermittent periods of hopefully snow this PM. *It looks like ~0.25" has accumulated so far. *Just enough snow to cover the glaze ice underneath. *Another day wearing ice cleats outside and*throwing more wood ashes around the driveway.

Rich- Good luck at the races

Kyle- I have had a couple of incidents of vehicles sliding downslope after being parked on ice. You are right about the process. Parking on ice and the ice melting underneath the tire due to rising temperature > freezing. Depending on slope the vehicles can really slide a fair distance.

Bruce- For the most efficient burn I really need to clean the stove’s (small) firebox out daily. I only burn wood to ~2:00PM to heat up the house and then use the mini-splits to keep inside temps maintained (and take advantage of the ~$1K credit accrued with Eversource). I still have a 30G metal ash can in reserve.

Bill- I hope that you get some + seat time today.

Bird- I hope that you get discharged from PT soon.

Billy- Thanks for the offer. I am assuming that you have a high energy efficient wood stove similar to our Lopi 1750 Republic.

RNG- Our pharmacy will take back out/their empty pill vials by company policy.

BEF- SSDI seems to be usually denied with the first application requiring an appeal or re-application. I hope your neuropathy further resolves. I was lucky with my application. They probably approved it because they did not want to to keep writing Bronchiolitis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia with Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.
