I didn't pick the best place to pull over, but it was the best I could find on such short notice. The new windshield is made by a company called Parabellum, and they've done wind tunnel testing to ensure they'll stand up to the wind loads. And I think they replace most of the BMW mounting hardware with their own. I'll know more tomorrow after a friendly chat with them on the phone.
Glad your encounter had a safe ending. I usually carry when I'm away from home, but this time decided it was more hassle than it was worth. Boy was I wrong. For all I knew, that nut job in the next room was about to send a bullet through the wall at any minute, and all I had was a pocket knife. Never again...
As you probably know, be sure to torque the new windshield screws a little at a time to let it position itself properly.
Thanks Lou, I give it a try tomorrow.
Don, you may have to pull out the pin (that is getting greased) to see the culprit. A grease gun puts out tremendous pressure, I would suspect a faulty zerk or something strong clogging the passageway.
Didn't get much done today.
Work tomorrow. (I worked last Th and Fri). Still busy at work.
Rich, hope you can keep it cool until then. What is your hotshoe riding this year? Hope for a good race.
J- I always wondered how a parked vehicle can decide to just start sliding (if was parked before the ice storm). But maybe enough water gets under the tires and freezes, lifting the tires off the pavement???
