Why do people not want to work?

There is a young guy here at the local pit that drives an enourmous Loader. Much of the time his GF or wife is with him. I haven't figured out if that is cute or needy. Certainly not something you see often.

I guess if a person is working long hours or away from home and misses their loved ones, they could have regrets later. If they don't now, they probably won't later. Some of the best relationships are those where people are mostly apart. Absense making the heart grow fonder and all that. Being together is often just another habit. I cherish my space, privacy and quiet environment.

Nope, not true.

They say in relationships where the Husband and Wife are apart for long periods of time (like I did when I worked for the railroad), the Husband falls more in love with his wife, but the wife falls out of love with her husband. This certainly rang true for my first marriage.

Women need to feel loved and nurtured, and it is hard to do that when you are never home. In due time they find others that can give them that closeness that they crave.

This is very true!

Even when I was a kid, I spent time mostly with older people...people 30 years older than me. They gave me good insight into what was important. In my 20's, other people said I was boring, and it was probably true with no drinking, smoking or doing drugs, but it also jump started my life. For instance, I owned my first home (no mortgage) at age 19.

Now I have a daughter that is 14 years old and she needs her mother's help to cut up her steak, and I am thinking; "What did I do wrong? I was only 5 years older than you when I built my first home, and you cannot even cut up her own food?" (Insert shameful shaking of the head here).

My kids are so not ready for life as adults.

Even a good portion of adults are not ready for life as adults. That is why so many 30-40 year olds are still living with their parents.

I see many in their 20's who cannot use a knife and fork, I attrubute most of this to KFC, Maccas etc where cutlery is not needed.

I hear you... I was 16 when a WWII Ranger D Day vet got a hold of my worthless butt and started me on the path to manhood. I thank God for him everyday... I'm 61 now, and he passed 30 years ago last month.

Speaking of work and wives. My wife is always telling me that my work is really just my entertainment. Sometimes I think she just doesn’t like it that I like what I do for ‘work’.

If you enjoy your job and you are good at it you make it look easy and everyone thinks they can do it. Until they try. :laughing:
