TODAYS SEAT TIME

I have a friend who is getting married soon, he asked me to saw out some wood "place settings", but wasn't sure what he even wanted.

SO, we took the tractor out and recovered the whole "top" of an Aspen I had cut down over a year ago for the bottom log, to mill into 1x4's.

Anyway, I cut a section of the top log off and situated it on the mill to make "elongated" pieces, and even though my friend couldn't picture in his mind what I was doing, once he saw them coming off the mill, he REALLY liked them and so did I!

Once we had them all milled out, he took them to his brothers house, who is going to sand and finish them for him.

Once done they will be pretty nice, for sure!

How thick did you make them?

Years ago my father cut down a big old Norway Maple which was on their front lawn. My mother's getting tired of mowing around it but the estimate to get it ground was $300. I decided to do it myself, bore cutting into the top of the stump, carving it into smaller pieces and eventually breaking it up with wedges, sledge hammer and a chain from the bucket of the L2800.

About halfway through the project I was wishing that I had the old solid bar Homelite XL-12 with manual oiler which I gave away years ago, I believe that it would have been more suited for the job.
I ruined a good chain and probably the bar on my saw, but at the end of the day was able to plant grass seed where the stump had been.

Today I drove over to a friends huge "where house" to talk about some logs he wants milled. (more on that, another time)

Anyway, he had a 2 axle boat trailer inside and told me it was "just in the way", then asking me if I wanted it, and said: "if you want it, get it out of here and take it home!"

So, I went back with my tractor and got it out of his way,

Who ever long ago, that bought the boat off it, didn't want the trailer... ooooh, he threw in the firewood log too! lol lol

Nice find Rob . . .

Those boat trailers can be used for lot of things especially if well built with double axles, I could think of a dozen uses.

^^^^
That one does have the double axles as you noted, and also looks like it's well built.

When my friend asked if I wanted it, he said: "you should be able to haul some logs with that"...

I brought it home and my wife was out in the yard, I said: "look, now I need to go buy a boat!!" lol
