Welcome def38

How far from fort payne?

Thank you BEF.

Ft Payne, sock weaving capitol of the world...or at least it used to be...there is still a sock weaving business still there...successful and their socks are the best... zkano - Organic Cotton Socks, Womens Fashion Socks, Mens Dress Socks
– zkano socks

I'm about 90 miles away. But, I'm not an original Albamian...born Minneapoils, lived Sea Cliff, NY, Boston, MA, Washington DC, Lake Bluff, IL, Los Angeles, CA, Houston TX and now here in Dixieland. Spent time in the US Navy, last duty station CA-148, operating and maintaining MK56 gunfire control RADAR (it was all vacuum tubes).

I think I'll stay put for now (I'm 79). I've started a small orchard on 5 acres that keeps me outta the saloons, am a caregiver for my wife of 50 years, three kids, a bunch of Grandkids and Great Grandkids...Pheeeew!

My used M-F 231S is just right for my needs and I maintain all my own equipment which includes;

RAV4, BMW R1150GS, CAT powered 40 ft. motorhome, B&S Intek V2 powered riding mower and various other pieces of machinery and tractor implements.

def38- Welcome to the GM thread and thank you for your service.

A T-Storm cell percolated up overhead a couple of minutes ago, with decent Doppler reflection. All kinds of alarms going off on my iPhone

I used to have friends in Birmingham and fort Payne, so have visited a few times.

My favorite band Alabama is from Fort Payne, and i have been by a couple of their houses.

welcome DEF38, are you still able to get away in the motorhome?

Haven't been in the MH in a while but, we're looking forward to some travel within the next year. The Highway Hilton is resting in the steel garage with the diesel tractor and other machinery. The BMW motorcycle hates those smelly diesel machines and has no sympathy for the B&S powered mower either. But like everyone, we all gotta get along.

Best to all.

Drew, I would rather not use Roundup, wanted to stop the thistle from sending its seeds all over.. the plants will be dead in a day or two, but will come back since I did a quick kill. I usually get spraying done in spring when things are growing and then hit trouble spots early summer. It is hard to get it right when it is hot and dry.

I'll wait until it cools down this fall and spray some more, gonna get after it since farmer renting our land is not keeping up the edges and it spreads to the pasture pretty fast if I don't stay on top of it. When we bought our land back in '93, the pasture was terrible, it was swampy so had to be careful of what sprays, couldn't mow much of it, but now it is well maintained except for being late spraying this year..

Hawkeye, what are we going to do when they ban Roundup? I guess we'd better start stocking up on vinegar...
I only put down two gallons of Roundup today, but in an organic farm, that's a lot for me...

here's some good news from Toppop, said he felt fine but......
in typical fashion they forgot to restart bp meds and got me in a-fib, probably adding a couple days stay.
Couple other issues getting resolved. Should be out by end of week hopefully
If you don't have a ton of weeds and have an outdoor cooker, you can use boiling water like my Grandma did. Cooks em right in place. A propane torch works well too.
