On 7/13 I posted - MY 3400 FORD TRACTOR/LOADER/BACKHOE is FOR SALE (thread now closed)

I had listed the machine on E-Bay for a 10 day auction with a reserve price not shown.
The comments here on TBN came fast and furious......a total of 275 posts!
The hands down winner for negativism was....."radios1".... who is the proud owner of a John Deere lawnmower, but actually also knows absolutely everything there is to know about medium sized TLB values.
Tied for second place in the negativism category were "Ovrszd", and "4750Man",....... but at least they actually do own tractors.

The auction stalled for a while at $3850, and eventually got up to $5850 before it closed.
"Radios1" knew for certain it was already too high at $3850.
All 3 above stated that the the $5850 auction ending price was the absolute most that the 3400 TLB was worth.
The thread can still be read here on TBN, but is closed for further posts.

I had set the E-Bay reserve at $9000....thus the auction failed.

THREE DAYS LATER I posted the 3400 TLB on Facebook Marketplace for $9750.
2 days after that, I received a phone offer of $9000, but of course, I said ...... show me the money.
The buyer could not come until next week (150 miles away).

On Friday a person called from 85 miles away, and said he would like to drive down to see the machine, and would be here within 2 hours.
He showed up on time!
Wrote me a credit union check for $9000 which I immediately took to my bank.
The bank advised that the check will clear by Friday of this coming week, and the buyer may pick the machine up any day after that.

What I have learned from all of this?
DO NOT EVER CONSULT WITH........ the owner of a John Deere La145 lawnmower, to determine TLB values.

"Coobie".......from a "Masshole",........ you "Cow Hampshire" guys are first class!

I'm glad to hear that you got your price, but this "flame" is completely unwarranted and should be deleted.

You are indeed correct.

I'm actually surprised of this thread opening and a couple of you're last posts.. If you can't go online and figure out what you're own machine is worth in you're area and need to depend on other members from all parts of the country to tell you what they think it's worth, you have a problem..

There is no need to defame a member because they own a lawnmower, so you got the money you wanted, big friggin deal, next time try and figure it out all by yourself...

I actually agree with your post. The negative treatment you received for just talking about the tractor you had for sale on Ebay was amazing.

The moderators failed by not closing the thread earlier and giving a few suspensions out.

It might be a good idea to read through the 275 posts in the original thread..... some hostile/angry/nasty posts...... prior to making a judgement here.
That original thread was apparently NOT closed because of anything that I said or did!
It was closed, because there was a nasty childish fight going on between ......OTHERS!

I am sorry! I will go to my safe space now,..... and try to..... "figure it out all by".... myself !

Thank you but no. Plenty of that in FP, don't need to chase more!

Pretty sure I remember your post and thought there was a lot more criticism directed at you than justified. I don't remember the participants. Glad you got it sold.

I did not read that thread but opening a revenge thread doesn't help anyone..

was the buyer experience with the nuances of a tab and the improvements made over the decades since your machine was made, or is he a newcomer to the world of construction equipment that fell for a pretty face without understanding features lacking in antique equipment, but standard on modern equipment.

I wouldn’t go overboard with patting myself on the back after scamming a newcomer out of his hard earned money.

Lipstick on a pig comes to mind.

How bout we let it rest and don't start all over. Not worth it.

Coobie didn’t earn at least a worthy mention for negativity?

I wouldn't point fingers at bad advice, I'd just say that there's a pretty wide range when it comes to the value of used equipment. Not only that, getting in front of buyers is the biggest factor.

If we had a way to instantly connect a seller of a piece of machinery to every single interested buyer, then everybody would get the true market value for their machine. Outside of that, it's a bit of a crap shoot when it comes to what one platform versus another will drum up in terms of bids and buyers. List it on eBay and maybe that week you find a buyer, or maybe on another site you list it for three months and nothing.

FWIW we now have a Tractors & Equipment For Sale group associated with our Facebook page that in time will be linked to our site as it grows in terms of popularity. About 600 members now and counting. There are dozens of for sale groups on Facebook and as you found, some are great. If only they were all unified instead of broken up into many different groups with different levels of quality.

+1 there aren't any ford 3400 TLB's for sale at a $9000 price, I did a lot of looking around.. but to try to suppress a persons opinion is never justified.

It is pretty ridiculous for folks to be posting about a price listed on a classified item. If you don't agree just move on it's not you're business.. PERIOD.
