Why do people not want to work?

I haven't been able to get comfortable enough to rest well for years so I feel much better after a colonoscomy than I do after a night in bed. Grandson told me doctors often use same stuff Michael Jackson's Dr routinly gave him daily. If I was assured it's harmless and could afford it,I'd take it daily. Same for steroids. I felt like a teen while taking Prednisone for shingles.

What bugged me was when I had to cancel a long overdue Colonoscomy because they wouldn't let me leave afterward in a taxi... yet if I had been low income the state would have provided me with a ride.

This is a growing issue and I SEE EVERYDAY...

People are scheduled for surgery and receive the instruction packet prior where transportation is covered under conditions for admission.

Then patient arrives day of surgery or for a procedure via Uber, Lift, Taxi, Self Drive, Bus, BART and last week bicycle and on foot...

For years it was routine to provide taxi vouchers and even arrange door to door transport for patients under contract... that all went out the window a few years ago when patients reported having complications after discharge or saying they were never given discharge instructions or the opportunity to ask questions after surgery... which means they forgot due to anesthesia.

So now you must have an 18 your old friend or family member accompany you home... it can be with taxi as long as the person is with you... person is given discharge instructions and asked if they have any questions.

If you have no one there are medical transport services... they charge hundreds of dollars.

In real world I have seen people say they have made arrangements when they have not... surgery is done and no one is there to accompany them home... so they discharge themselves Against Medical Advice... you cannot be held captive.

I have seen many times people have someone pick them up, get around the corner and change places or the pick up person gets out and into another car...

In these circumstances the Hospital can say they left accompanied.

The downside is you will be denied future procedures for violating Hospital policy...

Just today a patient in a wheel chair arrived via para transit... the person was unaccompanied and the colonoscopy was denied and the patient waited 3.5 hours for para transit pickup...

Follow the money...

Another unwritten rule is visitation... often very limited in out patient settings...

Simply saying the person is your interpreter, clergy or care giver will overcome the visitation restriction...

The deciding factor on leaving alone is often one of anesthesia... given or not.

Another issue is ID does not match address... about half the patients have problems where Address does not match ID...

Now there are new required questions that must be asked of those suspected to be of Medicare age.. Basically, you must state when you retired, how long you have been retired and do you have any other insurance... the goal is ensure those with other insurance do not use Medicare as primary... just another step that must be complete.

As for transport... we have had Doctor send their own staff to the Hospital to transport patients... doesn't happen often but it does... the idea is the Doctor has now taken over this area of potential liability...

When I had my last colonoscopy, the anesthesiologist told me that what they were giving me was the drug Michael Jackson OD'd on. It's supposed to be safe in controlled quantities, but like most things can be deadly in large quantities or concentrations.

That's the case about many things. You can OD on water if you drink enough.

Some time ago something was wrong with me, I don't even remember what, and I thought I would just drink crazy amounts of water. Thinking what harm can it do? You just urinate what you don't need and flush out the body. Apparently not. No good! Apparently this can lead to death!

Are we getting ready to vote in a socialist economy regime? Every body is forced to work the government runs everything to capture the resources to sustain some form of life. Time to really analyze where we want to go. Read the history of the last 100 years on how socialism was the first step to communism. Nazism evolved from the German Socialist Democrat Party. We now have a US Socialist Democrat Party at work on the next election. Scary!

It really does seem everyone that needs/wants to work is working...

Society is at the point where many simply do not need to work for subsistence.

The entire Homeless issue is forefront in the Bay Area to the point of stopping or limiting new or expansion of existing companies... the reason is well paying jobs can price people out that don't have the money.

It is as if society has been flipped top to bottom...

Huge ethical debate in SF regarding rents... SF has had rent control for decades...

A woman living 40 years in rent controlled housing speaking through her interpreter contested her 7% rent increase...

The board said it is unfortunate but the 7% rent increase is legal because it is allowed to pass through mortgage cost and tax increases...

The board said while it may currently be legal it is unethical and granted the woman a 1 year hardship reprieve... citing just because someone's mortgage or property taxes increased does automatically justify passing those costs on to tenants...

At one time 75% of the rentals I managed were subsidized... it became generational in that this is the only way of life the family knew...

Everything from discounted utilities, free cell, internet, housing, school lunch, daycare, medical, etc... all in some way provided by taxpayers... yet these families bought Brand New off the show room cars... granted they were cars like Corolla, Civic, Kia...

Went to my Crown dealer for undercoating today. The guy I liked retired and sold the business. Two young guys were doing the dirty job. I am astounded, that the new owner could find anyone to fill that job.

When you don't balance the budget, and just borrow or print money to pay for socialism, it's a disaster in the making.
