Rain hasn’t been in my favor since I buried the septic tank a while back but o finally got the leech field put on today. The city designer wanted the lines in an S shape. It seems to me like an E shape would be a lot better.

Mowed my driveway a couple weeks ago. This is what it looked like today - 2 foot tall weeds, some closer to 3 feet! Hard to believe they can grow so fast in the dry desert.

Why do they grow so much better in the center of the driveway vs anywhere else?

I have been working on backroads, beating back the trees with a flail boom mower.

I try to get as much as I can with the flail mower because the cost per hour is cheaper, as well as the knives and shackles that I inevitably break. But when I get the different towns done, then I will go back and get the areas I could not get with the forestry mower mounted on an excavator.

It is an endless battle in Maine, beating back the forest in all the right of ways.

My "seat time" today was, getting a Kubota diesel engine out of the barn and loading it on my trailer for delivery. An Amish guy wanted it WAAAAAY more than I did, and made me an offer I couldn't refuse!

Anyway, "away it goes"....

Amish guy unloaded it with one of his tractors and was a happy camper...

Actually, he had several...

I don't think there's ANY Amish here, that don't have tractors anymore. They do use horses too...

Many times they use a horse powered "sulky", with a powerplant on it, to power the machinery they are pulling with the horses...

I think they can use power/power tools etc. For "work/job" just not "home".

Even in my little circular driveway EVERYTHING grows better there. I've started spreading rock salt, seems to slow it down a little...
