Titan 7 foot rotary mower.

I've NEVER blown the gear box, pto shaft or any pto/tranny parts yet, on a tractor or rotary cutter, so I'm not sure when THAT will start? And, all three of my cutters have clutches that I've NEVER did anything to, more than one time a year mainteance, and some times not even that.

I just bought a new rotary cutter,

and I don't expect anything will be a problem on that one either.

I would NEVER go back to sheer pins!!! NO WAY NO HOW!

That bb720 is a beauty. I've been wanting to order one for months but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I was just talking about it last night and then I opened your post this morning, rubbing it in my face. :)

I got sick of talking about it, and on top of that, a Woods rep. at the NFMS told me that it would be in my "best interest" to get one sooner rather than later. Looks like a re-design is coming down the pipe and the Brush Bull has been one of the best mowers for Woods that they have ever built.

I wanted a mower of KNOWN quality/strength like my other two Woods, not try out something new.

BTW, this mower has a 6 year, 100% warr. on the gear box, that includes leaks!

I just watched a few videos on maintenance for the slip clutch. Doesn't look like rocket science. I should be able to handle that.

It's not, it's just tedious. Just make sure you know how you properly re-tension it. Some use spring height, others number of turns or possibly a torque spec.

On my tiller with the springs completely loose just the rust holding the plates together is enough to cut well over half through a 2x4. I jammed that in the tines before engaging the PTO as I couldnt bust it free. Worked as desired, although the bang & half a 2x4 was suprising.

Good heavy unit. Nice that they put a 6 year warranty on the gearbox. Doubt very seriously it will be needed. Never ran a Woods brush cutter but my PRD 7200 is a really high quality heavy duty unit.

I finally got my hands on the chain kit for the 7 foot Titan mower and put together a video of instal and some mowing on the dam. This is the second time I have used it. First was about 2-3 weeks ago in the Orchard. So far it works like a champ.
Titan Implement 1507 Rotary Cutter Chain guard instal and initial review. - YouTube

I just came in from mowing with my Titan 1606 (with chains today). The chains are complete garbage. I caught a stump with the cutter (couldn't be seen - in heavy brush). The stump bent the sheet metal that the chains are mounted to. This is turn allowed the chain to come into contact with the blade and the chains links were cut off the end of each link section in the center section. Blades are now gouged from links being cut. Buyer beware.

So let’s see, you hit a stump that damaged the cutter yet the manufacturer is at fault?

You got it. I just bought the cutter in December. It's only been out twice and it's already at the point that it's damaged. I get it that I hit a stump. However, father-in-law has an old MX5 that's rough and the guards are still in place on his. He's hit many a rock and stump. The manufacturer's design is flawed. That's my beef; The sheet metal should not hang below the deck. It's destined to get bent in this rugged terrain.
