guy just left with my Kubota F mower after handing me a big pile of 100 dollar bills. Hotfooted them down to bank. Very nice father/son
combo, son runs landscaping business and both were very mechanical. They saw how clean I had it, ran it for all of three minutes, never even turned on blades, and said it was fine and didn't try to dicker. Thank you very much, my price he knew was very fair. They know more than I do about mowers... Of course I did see his trailer tires were low and since he was pulling a one ton trailer with more than a ton on it, I brought my air tank up and pumped up his tires. Not a trailer they use a lot but surprised they drove it like that, 35 pounds in 55 pound tires. Last thing I wanted for them was to blow a tire and flip the mower on the way home.

got promising news from dealer: I just went out and looked at a 4708 I have on the yard and they are pin adjustable and I moved them in to about 26 which is cat 1. He's going to try to take the stabilizers off the 4708 and put them on mine, would fix everything. I sent these pics to him. I guess buying the least expensive version didn't get me the nice stabilizers... would be nice to have an easy fix. Btw, there aren't any more holes under that cover, just the one at the end, all the adjustment is in the threading.

Drew.
Have you tried pulling the pin on the back side of the stabilizer. Dad’s 471 MF has a similar stabilizer. You pull the pin and move the lift arms to hookup the implement. Then turn the stabilizer to get pin back in. His lasted about 12 years before they froze up from the winter mud of feeding hay. We had to disassemble them to free them up. He has no trouble with cat 1 implements. Also had a tractor once that wouldn’t hook to a cat 1 with the lift arms all the way down. The had to be up a couple of inches.

Per the Mayo clinic:

Rabies is a deadly virus spread to people from the saliva of infected animals. The rabies virus is usually transmitted through a bite. Animals most likely to transmit rabies in the United States include bats, coyotes, foxes, raccoons and skunks.

Plus, they eat small dogs, cats, and will kill large dogs.

Spent most of yesterday playing "pick up sticks" in the horse pasture.

Picked up about 10 Ranger loads. Dump bed is very handy for this.

I was wondering if that pin was to allow you to move or screw it out..

Bought 2 10# bags of the bonita complete, at $25 a bag.

Now to figure out the application rate. Ky blue / fescue grass is 4.36 - 5.74 # per 1k sf. My spreader is a scotts speedygreen 3000. Not in their table. A scotts deluxe spreader would be set at 5.5 to achieve 3.8. - 5.74 rate.

Apparently according to various web sites, my spreader number is the application per 1k sk, so will apply at 5. But not tonight.

Mulched trails in the morning and tractor work in the gardens in the afternoon, nice day!

Hiking meeting this afternoon also - We have a record 540 members, but only about a hundred at the meeting where the Austin hiking trail group gave a presentation on their trail project-Zilkler Park to Lady bird Johnson’s wildflower center- 30 miles of trails. The trail will eventually head to SanMarcus and then San Antonio. Home - Violet Crown Trail

Almost made it to 60 today. Hopefully it will tomorrow before rain tomorrow night.

Been a nice few days. Used the 3pt tiller to work up some ground where I fed hay. Then broadcast seeded about 5 acres. Put 100 lbs. of fescue on it, pulled a chain harrow over it. Then chain harrowed the rest of the pastures. It spreads out any manure that didn’t break down over the winter nicely.

Borrowed a no-till drill from my in-laws. I’m hoping that I can pull it. If not I guess I’ll be going back to get a tractor also. It’s a 10’. I know I can pull a 7’ so we’ll see what happens. Will be drilling fescue, Timothy, and annual ryegrass. If everything goes well.

For all you guys that struggle with PTO shafts. Give this method a try. Cleaning Out the Bin, Harmless Style! - YouTube

Everyone get well and stay that way.

Good evening all. 42F for the start, clear sky, calm wind. Wind got breezy in the afternoon, clouds showed up in the afternoon, and 70F for the high. Blood draw and in-town errands this moorning, had planned on dropping a small oak tree that has a persistent mistletoe problem. Did get a short ride in, missed out on nap due to a spread sheet I track rides on was missing rides :pullinghair:
Sounds like most of you are under control
Prayers for all.

26 and going to a high of 37 °F. Wind S 14 mph. Periods of snow mixed with rain.

I have got bare driveway for the first time since last November. This is a good thing. Now don't get me wrong here, I love the snow and cold, but I also love to see it leave and spring arrive.

Have a good day all

Almost had a good day. Actually it was a very good day up until time I managed to break the tractor. Removing the stumps from the bushes I’ve been mowing in the field out by the driveway. Managed to go over one and broke the hydraulic oil filter assembly. Tractor went back about another 10 feet, FEL went to ground and tractor just stayed in place - no hydraulics at all. A quick peak underneath confirmed it. Hydro fluid dripping and an empty spot where the filter should have been. Found filter a couple feet from tractor right next to last root ball I had dislodged. Closer inspection revealed I managed to break off the casting the filter screws onto. Filter dented slightly. Sadly I was within slight of finish, maybe 30 feet from completion.
New assembly on order but no idea when I’ll receive it.
Would like to find a way to bypass filter just so I can drive tractor to better area to work on.

Good morning. The grass is silver with billions of dew drops this morning. By the time I got back they had done of great job of cleaning the mud from my wellies. If I remember before I go out again, it would be a good time to treat them to a quick spray and wipe over with silicone, to help the rubber last a little longer without cracking.

Seemed to spend half of yesterday doing nothing but moving sheep between fields. Sometimes it is easy, I walk in front with a bucket of feed, the ewes come running and the lambs follow, with my wife giving encouragement to any that are tempted to linger behind. A few lambs were not so obedient, nothing unusual in that except for one in particular that ran in the opposite direction, escaping down a track, then through the mesh on an energised electric fence and into a field with other sheep. It took me quite a while to catch it and reunite it with it's mum. Mum walked up to greet her lamb and let it suckle. What I hadn't seen before was that one side of the ewe's face was covered in blood - a crow or magpie has taken her eye.

Rick, your ranger looks perfect for collecting fallen branches, bet it's lots of fun to drive too. At first I was thinking why not take a chainsaw and get twice as much in, but then realised that would only be 5 trips, so only half the fun ;)

26 now, 55 later and some rain. Supposed to be decent weekend.

Time for another cup of coffee. Slept good again, but just feel the need for another cup. Maybe the first cup tasted too good.

Thought yesterday was going to be quiet...seems sales had other plans. Had to spend most of the morning and part of the afternoon with a steel mill service company. But looks like it will be worth it. They will likely order a number of machines this year.

Well.....better get my head ready for work

Everyone have a safe and good day

Drew.
Have you tried pulling the pin on the back side of the stabilizer.

thanks, yes, we disconnected it on one end and tried from the other end, no joy, no further adjustment.
Dealer said they are coming out this week with another set of stabilizers and will see if they can fit them.

David, so sorry about your tractor. Of course it would happen as soon as you sold the other one...

Mostly, I have a tree near my house infested with mistletoe and it gets worse each year. Lovely at Christmas time, a real
parasite otherwise.

light rain out, we need it, mowed onion grass yesterday in clouds of dust. Ground is still damp underneath so haven't had to water plants and this rain will do nicely. Fixed my drop seeder yesterday, two rivets had pulled out of rotating mixer part, and was quite pleased with myself that I was able to tack weld it back together, and it all didn't fall apart in use.

44 going up to 57 today, rain until tomorrow morning, but a "nice" rain.

Farmer, nice to hear about what you are working on. Always reminds me how much work is involved in earning a living in farming, but I sense a lot of satisfaction involved. Those drills sure are expensive. I looked at the smallest six footer and it was eye opening.

ground some expresso style beans together with Peets decaf beans, and it's much better. Big test tomorrow afternoon, the vertigo one for Meniere's disease, and no coffee tomorrow. They also want me to stop taking all my arthritis pain meds. That isn't going to happen, but will cut back to minimum. Nice when they tell you don't eat a lot because this test will likely make you nauseous. Sure looking forward to that...

I'm thankful for each day on this earth.

29 going to 55.

Yesterday was frosty enough to serve as the last snow, so Randy, I'm ready for today...spring has sprung.

Made a trip back to Virginia Beach yesterday early...my sister had to take my mom to the emergency room with chest pains...she has a pacemaker but has had no other heart problems...all tests checked out okay and she is back home...my wife came down later to stay with her. Very relieved.

David, sorry to hear about the tractor problem.

Need to fill one more pallet with firewood today before the rain returns tonight. If time, will put the bush hog on and start cutting the fields.
