Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! What a change! Low went to 22, made a nice ice coating on everything before covering it all with some snow. Then the winds kicked in about 3 am, shaking the house. This morning, blizzard conditions from the blowing snow. There are high wind warnings for gusts 55-80 mph !! Along the I-40 corridor, there could be gusts close to 100 !! Totally REDICULOUS!!

At least with the ice coating and snow, we won't get the blowing dirt! That would have been a mess.

There were a few tornadoes yesterday afternoon in southeastern NM. That front moving to the East / NE causing severe weather for those in its path.

Wifey and I were able to get 'back to back' optometrist appointments yesterday. Wifey's glasses will be ready today, but with this weather, probably won't make the trek until tommorow. Mine will be a week to 10 days. Wifey's prescription worsened by just a little in all aspects. Mine actually improved in distance vision, but worsened in the 'up close' / reading area, which I definitely was aware of...:confused2:

My daughter called us early this morning....usually not a good thing that early... She was driving, started slowing down for an accident ahead of her. She said she looked in the rear view mirror and began watching a car sliding sideways towards her Jeep. They did hit her. She's OK, says there's just minimum damage to her license plate holder (plastic). Apparently her spare tire on the back of her Jeep took the brunt of the impact. The offending vehicle has both the passenger side doors imprinted with a big round crunch. Everyone was OK, so that's a good thing

Hope everyone has a great day and stays safe and out of trouble. Prayers sent.

Ted-

I am happy to read that your daughter was not harmed and her Jeep sustained only minor damages with the accident.

This is one huge, strong storm impacting on the SW and Plain States of the CONUS. It's going to nail the GL and Central CONUS before it becomes a decent rain event here Thursday/Friday.

I hope that you only have to stay warm and fed today.

As far as I recall, the flatness spec for the oil pan was 50 microns. .002 English. I壇 check the flatness first, then figure out what to work on. When they are stamped, the last process is to 都pank that flange. A little stroke to flatten it out. The torque when assembled is controlled pretty closely. Too heavy a hand on there can bend them up.

This is an aftermarket pan, a weldment made from 10 gauge steel sheet. The offending section was modified by me under direction from the ex-mechanic to make room for the flywheel in order to increase the tank capacity. In doing so, the sealing surface was warped by welding. I was able to get it to within 0.010", as checked against the surface plate using feeler gauges. With your info, Irv, that's probably not good enough, especially considering that 10 gauge isn't going to conform as easily as the usual thinner stock that's used for oil pans. I don't see how it wouldn't have been warped by welding in it's unmodified form, and my guess is that's why they are no longer available from that supplier. Another example of a poor choice made by that mechanic based on what he thought would work rather than his experience of what does work. I also suspect that the oil pickup tube is too short, something else I'll be checking when the pan is off.:pullinghair:

Edit: Here's a picher of the dang thing:

It was 71°F here and overcast this morning. Forecast is for 77°F this afternoon. This is first morning w/o fog for sometime. It was getting foggy last night till winds came up, a bit after 10 p.m., and blew it all away.

I did get 2nd tractor washed yesterday so ...... there's that.

I've got to go to Richmond House early Friday morning so, will stop by the car wash, near there, on my way back to ranch. They do a great job on the F-350 and clean inside and outside for $16.95.

Once that's done, all rolling stock will be clean at the same time, not a common occurrence here so ......... I'll be dancin'.

Everyone enjoy your Hump Day!

Prayers to all.

74°F and .33 inches rain. More of a continual wetting yesterday. Enough to keep me off the roof.
Apparently I slept thru our 5,5 earthquake during the night.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

I had mentioned that my ex-DIL had a baby last week. The wifey crocheted a "fox" for the baby. My ex-DIL actually requested that she make it. Turned out pretty good. The DIL really liked it. It's about 10" tall.

42°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 67° today.

Drove out to St. Peters MO after work yesterday to meet a guy to buy a computer he had listed on Facebook Marketplace. Picked up a Dell Inspiron 23" all-in-one for $200 for my home studio. It was used in a small business, and is in immaculate condition. Looking forward to updating the studio from my old Roland VS1824CD recorder to a computer-based digital audio workstation (DAW). Really opens up a lot of possibilities and options. Ordered new powered nearfield monitors and a powered sub over the weekend, which shipped yesterday. Need to buy a digital interface, download the DAW program, and I'll be officially recording in the 21st century by this weekend.

Been seeing reports about this "bomb cyclone" that's apparently going to end life as we know it in North America. Shaking my head at the incredible over-sensationalizations in weather reporting lately.

Good morning! 58 ˚F raining. I need to get some more gloves this morning so I can trailblaze this afternoon weather permitting. 5 potatoes are up should be more by tomorrow. Eric just do like the British cooking shows - add butter, lots of butter, tons of butter and then a lot of butter on top.

Looking, never heard of anyone getting their tractor stuck in the snow. Does that happen a lot up North?

When you get snow as deep as we got, then anything is possible.
My driveway in front of the shelter I keep the Dodge in is at least 2' higher than normal. Most of it is ice.

Nice fox.

Drove the BAT mobile (Big Az Truck) to work today, so son could use the subaru. It needs a good cleaning in and out, wish i had that deal.

Wife went to funeral which starts soon. Actually only a graveside service.

Wicked snow out west.

"Getting into a school" has been a racket for a long time. Lots of state schools restrict number of local students in favor of making $$$$$ on out of state and foreign students, regardless of ability..

And you couldn't have paid me to go to most of those schools.

Back to work....

Back from doctor. Both of us will be OK. Just keep on with liquids and chicken soup. Kind doctor checked us both out. Without having to go to urgent care.
