I have a mystery. Yesterday my chipper/shredder was upright resting on cinderblocks. Today it is on its side on the snow. It was windy here yesterday, but not windy enough to blow over a ~800# tractor attachment. I am wondering if the recent rains paired with freezing thawing cause a cinder block to crack and fail? At least the tarps and cover to prevent water entry appear (by binoculars) to still be properly placed. The only way to find out is to go out there. It's a long +100' walk over frozen snowpack. It's stuff like this that makes me stupid..... really stupid.

If the blocks are the 8x8x16 type with the two holes, and they were stood so the holes were vertical, and the holes filled with water which subsequently froze, then yes, the blocks could have failed and let the implement tip over. But since those blocks were never intended to support loads like the implement, they could have just failed outright, which is why they are not recommended for supporting vehicles, especially when they are being worked on. In spite of redneck tradition.

As far as the walk goes, I'm surprised you haven't devised some sort of saddle for Brogen yet...:)

Instead of the traditional barrel that St Bernard’s wear. Why not send Brogan out with a camera. Save the drone for aerial stuff. May be safer than a saddle when a squirrel catches Brogans eye.

My understanding is all Great Buy 1/2 gallons have been stopped. Other brands that Walmart carries are still available. I use 2%. About 1/2 gallon a week.

If I'd known that, I'd have checked in the Walmart I was in with my wife this morning, but the "best by" date on my current milk is still 2 days off, so I didn't look at the milk today. We have 4 Walmart Super Centers and one Walmart Neighborhood Market that we use regularly, plus 4 other Super Centers that we visit occasionally and I've never known any of them to be out of the milk I buy. Looks like I paid $0.65 for the current half gallon on the 12th. But that's no to say that they won't be out of it the next time I'm in one of them.

David- Thanks for sharing whatever it is. My track record on animal ID here is not 100%:cool:

RNG- Your explanation makes sense. Thanks. Brogen did mark over there a lot; I wonder if there could have been a chemical reaction as well? "In spite of redneck tradition." :rolleyes". I actually have metal jack stands and really do use them on occasion. For years I had 8"X8"X18" firewood !/4's that were close to squared. They worked great until they all rotted from direct ground contact.

Constant spousal supervision minimizes the potential for stupid nowadays. I had much more "freedom" with the two previous knee immobilizations, and consequently had more "fun."

RonJH- There are 3 red squirrels that torment poor Brogen staying just out of range of his tether. There was a 4th that was missing some tail, the most aggressive, that would charge the dog. It fortunately has disappeared. They do not know this, nor does Brogen; but he could move that loaded woodcart easily. I hope that your Wife's swallow evaluation goes/went well..

44 today. Supposed to be warming over night.

Chickens are gone. Still trying to finish taxes. Go Monday for preparer to go over them. Then I can focus on getting chicken coops decayed and ready for the next flock.

Been a rough week. Oldest son is home with the flu. My cousin who is a year younger than me spent the week in Houston. They confirmed she has brain cancer. She went to doctor in mid December who flew her to Louisville where she had surgery to remove a brain tumor before Christmas. Those test weren’t consistently conclusive so she ended up in Houston for a second opinion. Her prognosis is not good, she has 4 kids under 10 years of age.

Roy. Glad your wife is doing better.

Kyle. Get better.

Don. Good luck with tractor giveaway.

Drew. Good news. Right. They found something but also nothing.

Farmer that is bad. Prayers for your cousin and her family. Hope your son comes out ok.

I just walked the dogs about 2 miles, then fed them. Everybody is in nap mode now, even the puppy, she’s just shy of 6 months, and about 50lbs. I feel like joining them....

Have a good one!

Good morning! 48˚F and cloudy.

Looking at the specs it looks like the the tractor that I will be wining April 1st will be a foot too long to fit in the golf cart garage. I will have to explore other options. I wonder how hard it is to remove the FEL? Without the FEL it will fit nicely. Yard decorations are allowed so that is another possibility. I have 30 days to take delivery, after that I get disqualified. I also cannot sell it for a year and must have insurance on it. That makes it sound like a finance agreement were they make the payments.

Remember all who enter, you will only be called 3 times within an hour on or about 4/1 and you must answer or be disqualified.

Sure hope they remember our time difference. My wife is gonna love her new little tractor.

Bunch of deer in the back field, and some young ones running around. Getting too dark to see them good now.

Farmer, prayers for your cousin. That puts troubles in perspective.

Need to clean out the shed this weekend, make room for that new yanmar coming the 1st of april.

Need to exercise more....
