Well, the weather guessers were wrong again.... They said snow tonight... In the last hour, the temp has dropped to 22, clouded up, and is now snowing! I see where this is going.....

Good morning all,

Clear and cold this morning with -6 to start the day. The weather guessers were wrong...no snow yesterday although I can see the mountains did get some, the pine trees look like flocked Christmas trees. That's good, it tells you where to ride that has fresh snow. Going to ride tomorrow. :D

Good progress

Hadn't realised the Simpsons were staying with you, but why did you have to secure them ? Homer causing trouble again ? :)

All he does is hang around and hold things up.

David, nice progress on the project....what's next?

Multi faceted project, new diesel storage, propane generator, caretaker studio all wrapped together. Gonna take me a couple months at least.

I forgot to mention that I fixed the garage door that wouldn’t open when it was below 25. Turns out there was a story behind it. Ellen had tried to close it a few weeks ago and the wind blew a big box under it, the box was at an angle so the eye didn’t detect it and it crushed the box before enough resistance caused it to go back up. It slightly bent the top bracket where the lift arm connects and caused a slight misalignment, when it was cold the extra drag would shut it down. I took the bracket off and straightened it, works fine now.
Ellen said she just didn’t think about it anymore until the other day.

56°, what a pretty afternoon! Too bad I had to spend so long clearing that huge tree from the driveway! :D

More rain tomorrow and on the weekend, everything is soaked. At least all the snow is gone.

Glad you got opener fixed.
To bad you live so far away. I would be over there with my chain saw, tractor and chipper to clean up that fallen tree mess.

Snow casualty, grader got my mailbox with wing.. was working to make sure he didn't leave a berm, folded wing up, eased forward, stopped (looked like it might hit mailbox), but instead of raising the wing, he dropped it and took out my mailbox.. I went out and took some pictures to submit claim to county... grader operator came back up the road a few minutes later, stopped and called in to have the mailbox fixed or replaced (should be today or tomorrow).

Drunks take out the PO box cluster at the closest intersection with a weekend regularity and then the DOT plows come as needed  It could be worse if the local road crews did not mark roadside plow obstructions w/o discarded beer cans on sticks. There many reasons for a real P.O. Box.

Power came on about 30 minutes ago after saying it would be Sunday. Generator only 5500 watts does essential things only gas heat downstairs, gas hot water, well, a few lights and the icebox. Trees cut up with the help of a friend no way with arm I could myself. No internet today

Years ago when my parents were alive their mail box was bashed about every two weeks. After a year of this decided to do something about it so we made a steel one 1|4 inch steel tubing 3|16 house around mail box then set in concrete. About two weeks after that the police wake my dad up at 1:45 in the morning. Two cars racing one hit box took out radiator so both were caught minimum damage to mailbox

Sorry no pictures
