Wrong, wrong and wrong again. Adware Plus shows up in the Chrome extensions list as on. But, in fact the ONLY thing I could do is turn the radio button to off. There is nowhere I can adjust anything, and it doesn't appear at Chrome's header, so there is NOTHING to do to make it work, other than an uninstall then reinstall.

What happens when you right click on the icon in the upper-right corner (assuming there is one)? Every Chrome extension I use will give a drop down list, options or settings being one of them.

I'm using Firefox and uBlock Origin 1.18.4 ... for many sites.

I can click on the icon at the right of the taskbar... and BEHOLD, I can turn off the blocker for this site. :) (did so after a recent discussion such as this)

Because I use a computer vs smart-crutch to log into TBN there is lots of room on a page for the bits I come to see, and like Moss I don't find the ads as annoying as informative. I'm so d__ independent I can also go for days without logging in at all.

That said, "there is something wrong with everything, sometimes you just have to care enough to pi$$ about it to those who might give a d__." (not that we always do ...)

IMO, Rules exist to allow the most capable among us to live richly while obeying them. Many who fail write their own but try to blame others for the results. I'm good.

An old mentor of mine once told me I could run a machine or let a machine run me. That applies to computers as well.

Go into Adblock plus options and unclick the allow non intrusive ads box. There are a few other options on that page also that you may want to look at. Seems like every time there is an update it changes the settings to allow non intrusive ads.

Thanks..

I'm not using an apple product, and am dealing with banner ads at the top of each thread page before the actual posts as one reads down the page. TBN's revenue stream is not my issue- it's theirs. I don't watch or listen to TV ads, I don't want to have to have ads in threads I read and or write in, either.
If TBN wants to institute pay for subscription- bring it on.

I am looking for a way to get Adblock Plus to kill the banner/header ads now present on my Chrome browser. Anyone with knowledge to do so please check in.

Thanks,

CM

The title of the thread says "Blocking ads on TBN with Adware Plus...".

Your post says Adblock Plus

I'm guessing you mean Adblock Plus, not Adware Plus? :confused3:

We get to post #11 before anyone attempts to answer your question with relative info, that being you're not running an Apple product, you are running Chrome, and you are running Adblock Plus.

Ha, Ha, those are the products I own, no advertising needed, they speak for themselves.

Thanks to some thread responders I have solved the issue.
Thanks to others who seem to think because I don't want ads that equates to my wanting everything 'for free,' I won't be detailing the solution to the problem.
BTW, one has nothing to do with the other. Those who think you're right, just because you have an opinion, are not. You want to support TBN, try donating your own money instead of telling me what I should be doing with my life.

CM out.

Post #16 you say you have solved the issue, but you don't mention how you've done that. It would be nice to share the info with the folks that tried to help you, and for future people looking for a solution to that same problem. ;)

I've moved on to something else and ads are no longer a problem. I'm sure you know what making assumptions makes you.... ...jumble this....

Did the uninstall/reinstall resolve it, or was it something else?

Post 14 precisely details the answer to remove the "unintrusive ads" at the top . I implemented it and got rid of them. Which was the exact question CM asked, but apparently glossed over. It looks like I am the only one that benefited from this thread. Woo Hoo for me.

Hmmm, you are assuming that the only option is to remove and re-install? As you said I'm sure you know what making assumptions makes you...
Might I suggest clicking on the "Extension Options" link from the Chrome extensions list? That will get you to the ABP Options menu.

You can also right click on the triple dot icon in the top right, then right click on the AdBlock Plus icon and click "Show in Toolbar" to have it show up again...

Your quoting something I said out of context. I replied to page 2, post # 18 because the poster is wrong, wrong... about what she/he posted about what I did to solve ABP's issues on my laptop. AND implying I was stupid should have been removed, because if anything is stupid is her/his assumption that I'm stupid and her/his arrogance to suggest he knows what I did to solve the ABP not working.

Facts are it disappeared from my laptop, suddenly and for no reason. When I got around to it, I decided to post on TBN to get members thoughts, suggestions, and/or to list similar issues they might have had. I didn't want to spend time studying the program specifics, I sought to find out how to fix it, find something more reliable or whatever. I had spent a reasonable amount of my valuable time to find a fix, but since the icon at the Chrome page header and at the taskbar had gone away, and most recently so had my entire Office Suite, which I had to do a full reinstall of, based on several 'watchdog violation errors' on my win 10 laptop I chose to shortcut to where I had first learned of ABP, right here on TBN.
When I looked at what you posted above- I realize the only thing I missed was when looking at the dropdown from the 3 dots at Chrome's header was the 'show in toolbar' line. It's also possible I missed it because it wasn't there when I was looking for the icon- I can't know, because I didn't see it there, and it's STILL not present. But I'm no longer concerned, I've eliminated the need for ABP, thus solving whatever issues it had, then, now, and forever.

And let's recognise with all the issues brought to my attention, why would I want to get ABP to work again. And as I think back Chrome had reported an extension as interfering with it's operation, and I deleted it- don't remember the extension, but I know ABP had failed long before, months at a minimum.

Lastly, I was NEVER assuming the only option was to remove/reinstall; especially because I knew that reinstalling, possibly a 'dirty install' could cause more issues than leaving it alone- I chose to seek out other's opinions Prior to doing ANYTHING.

To me the term I used "glossed over" means to me you didn't see the explanation in post 14 or didn't understand it or didn't read it. In any case it solves the EXACT problem you stated, and I was able to utilize the "fix" in a few seconds. No, I don't know what you are thinking, and never said I did. But the good news is that the fix was well stated, and it sure helped me!.. Woo Hoo for me.. :)

I saw post # 14, as well as all the others. I wondered if he meant everytime ABP or Chrome, and settled on ABP regarding every time it updates there are issues. I understood what he said, but could not implement it because what he said to do was not available on my laptop, and I had chosen a different path of resolution.

Glad it worked for you. I didn't do this thread to help others, necessarily, but if posters/readers gained from it- good for them/ you, 'cause it's all about you- right? So I didn't gloss over anything, wrong, wrong, I saw it, read and understood it, just chose to not utilize etc. See the difference? You WERE assuming non facts, and guessing at what I had done re: post #14.

We get to post #11 before anyone attempts to answer your question with relative info, that being you're not running an Apple product, you are running Chrome, and you are running Adblock Plus.

What I meant by that is you asked a very specific question, and every reply up to post 11 was about something else, not specific to your question. Different browsers. Different ad blockers. Different platforms, etc.... while they were being kind or comisserating with you, they weren't answering your question up to that point.

I meant that with all sincerity. Many times we see people ask questions, get lots of suggestions, and then never hear the outcome. It would be nice to know what worked to resolve the issue.

As far as the friendly politics forum goes, I suspected what would be said in that forum, and never asked for access to it for just that reason. Did you really think it would go well in there? I didn't. So I won't even take a peek. ;)
