Ecofans stove top fans??

What I really like about mine is that I can get up in the morning and tell if there's enough heat to get the fire going, or just turn the electric heat on. As long as the blades are moving there's enough heat left. If not it's a cold start, and might take a couple of hours to get a good enough fire to heat the house.
Ditto here
i checked into one but i have seen a lot of reviews where people say that you have to manually start the fans in motion
Never had that problem. Moves the air around fine
Mines 8+ years old and have replaced the motor once which I consider really good for the amount of heat that it's in. US$15 http://tinyurl.com/yyupcos9 or if you live in Canadastan CAN$28 http://tinyurl.com/y2n7y2ge .............Mike

I have a fireplace insert, and the only place to put the fan was on the top of the surround that frames the insert into the fireplace opening. It only gets to 150-170 degrees, and it would slowly spin the fan. Not enough to move any air in the room.

Same here. The hot surfaces are all inside and the blower blows out the heat.

You mean like this:

I was given one, but I have a fireplace insert, and the only place to put the fan was on the top of the surround that frames the insert into the fireplace opening. It only gets to 150-170 degrees, and it would slowly spin the fan. Not enough to move any air in the room. Gave it to my dad for his stove, and it moves a lot more air. He has had it for 3-4 years now.
Yes like that. There are many different models & makers. We installed free standing Jotel gas stove last fall with blower.Looking for a little more wind push. The fan we are looking at is Camframo echo fan 806 belair for propane stoves.

Looking into ecofans that set on your wood burner, pellet, gas stoves. They run with no electricity just the heat from they stove.Any suggestions? The Ecofan brand made in Canada seems like a quality product.
They were great on the wood stoves and okay on gas stoves, pellet stove doesn't put out near enough heat on top of them to power them. Speaking from experience we have several of them on a couple of our locations.

Friend had one for years, and the motor started to slow down so he bought a new complete unit. Gave me the old one, I bought a new motor ($10?$12?) and it's been working for for years now, atop our soapstone woodstove.

Hmmm... something to investigate for this upcoming Winter.

I heat via my wood-heater, which is in my 'cathedral ceiling' living room. The room also has a variable speed ceiling fan to gently push all of that warm air down.

I'm wondering if this will be of benefit or another one of my gadgets... :scratchchin:

Once the novelty wears off, you’ll be bored with it. It does not move any significant air.

I noticed that one of the reviews stated that the fan would spin fairly fast, but they put a receipt in front of it and it wasn't blown. I notice that in the picture they indicate the fan spins fast, but the blades have very little bend and don't push much air. I'm sure they vary some, but I'd be concerned of buying something that doesn't actually push air.

I bought one for my Y2K plans. I don't think it moves enough air to be worth the price. Plus, they are so tiny in design, that they kind of seize up from ash. I have to keep coaxing mine to start. My Ex GFs next BF worked at the company that makes them and I got another for free, brand new in the box. I don't feel they are that effective to even use one, acquired for free. Just my 2 cents worth.

I run a ceiling fan and if push came to shove, I would grab a quiet computer fan. I just got the Ecofan for use in the absense of power.

I have a large stove in my work shop and have a wall mounted garbage picked 12" (or so) fan aimed at the stove top and it makes a HUGE difference.
