Oil & Fuel Mahindra 2555 tractor engine oil.

Thanks Ford850. I never thought about looking at Menards. I paid $54.99 at Tractor Supply for a 2.5 gallon container. I'll check Menard's price. How often do you change your oil? Mahindra says every 100 hours for oil and filter. Some have told me, they go longer between oil changes when using s full synthetic.

I usually find the gallon jugs are a better deal than the 2.5 gallon. The difference isn't substantial, but the best deals are when Shell has rebates too. Then I pick up T6 at Menards while they have there 11% rebate going, and get the additional rebates (if available) from Shell. In the end, I don't want to waste time or fuel driving all over trying to save a few dollars though.
I'm no oil expert, but I change mine at least annually. It's plenty dirty by then, and it's not a great expense to change it. I think changing your oil regularly is more important than the oil you choose. When I change my oil, it's a good time to check bolt torque, tire pressure, clean filters, clean the radiator fins, grease everything, and give the tractor a good check up. That's just my process, and you'll get a lot of different opinions on here about oil. There's not one perfect answer.

I grew up on a farm. My dad always went by the tractor hours for the oil and filter changes, but that wasn't using synthetic oil in those days. Your right, any good, clean oil is better than running old, dirty oil. I worked at an auto repair shop after high school and Mobile One had just come out, a full synthetic oil. A local cable TV company had Ford trucks and they converted them over to using Mobile One oil. They had the filters changed every 2000 to 3000 miles and then topped off with new oil. The engine oil slowly began to look like tar after a year or so. All the engines were ruined because of this. The bearing were taken out. We told the company owners this was a bad practice, but they insisted this was the proper method. Oil is cheap compared to an overhaul. I may leave the Shell Rotella in a bit longer than 100 hours, but at least change the filter at 100 hours and top it off. I was trying to follow the Mahindra manual for service. I like your method.

I bought the new oil filter, part # 006016642V91 that Mahindra is recommending for the 2555/2655 tractors. It's a shorter filter than the older part number 006008803F1. The new filter cost $30.19 and shipping/tax was another $15.75, $45.94 total. Just too much money! I took my new Mahindra engine oil filter to NAPA today. They researched the filter and found one that looks very close. The center threads on the filter are 20x1.5 mm. The NAPA Gold filter part number is 1324 and it's under $8.00. The gasket matches up perfectly to the Mahindra. I list the fact sheet for this filter. Please read it and let me know if you think this filter will replace the Mahindra on a 2555 HST. I'm not sure about how this specs out to the new Mahindra oil filter.

I did call Shell customer service and they recommend their T6 Shell Rotella 5w-40 full synthetic oil in the Mahindra Tier 4 diesels. This oil has an API CK-4 rating, the same as Mahindra brand oil. Thanks!

I wanted to add some info on my post. The NAPAGOLD 1324 engine oil filter is use on many diesel engines. Kioti tractors, Bobcat, Isuzu diesel, Ford small diesel, Dodge diesel and several more. I didn't install the NAPAGOLD 1324 at this date, but I plan to use it. Does anyone know any filter specs on the Mahindra engine oil filters? Thanks!

The Mahindra engine oil filter, part # 006016642V91is made by Mahle Corp. Their part number is OC 1139. I called Mahle USA and they said they manufacture this filter for Mahindra and it has a copyright on it. No specs are available.

I have a Mahindra 4110 about 10 years old. If I remember right, I went for filter to NAPA wanting to match filter. Counter guy searched up Mahindra. Just went back and picked it. I think NAPA has two different choices for my tractor.

Here's the icing on the cake, My brother-in-law has a repair shop and calls NAPA and it's delivered next door to me. As I'm posting, I think if NAPA is cheaper on line for filter the store will match net price. I gotta check that out. Might save a few pennies..

Cheers.....COFFEEMAN

Thanks for the info. That's about what I did. I took the new Mahindra engine oil filter to my local NAPA store. The counter man, who I'm friends with, researched the Mahindra filter size in his book and he came up with the NAPAGOLD 1324. I have been trying to get the specs on the Mahindra filter, like the pressure relief valve, if it has one and flow rate. I want to try the NAPA filter, but I don't want to damage the engine. I really don't see how the NAPA filter could damage it. Any thoughts? Take care!

I know this is lame, but I am trying to add a new thread on the 2655, and need 3 posts prior to doing so; so here is number 1.

You totally lost me on this? I never had to do this, in order to post as a new member, at least I didn't think I did. Your 2655 is about 99.9% like a 2555, so many of our post would be on interest to you.
