Good morning! 39 ˚F heading to the 50s ENE light wind.

I work on my raised bed yesterday moving the soil from the side so I could remove the sides today and level and straighten the cement blocks. I'll get a load of sand with my pickup today. Playing in the garden did have it's consequences, I missed out on seat time. By the afternoon trail blazing time I was worn out and glad to just transport culverts with my pickup.

I heard the hen card party went well with a dozen players.

Pic is from yesterday, a pretty Texas January Day 60 ˚F with someone else getting seat time on our tractor. The more it is used the more it is appreciated by the group. I did get seat time on the gator. I can't be to anxious on the tractor or it's true value will be known. View attachment 588704
(Notice the high fence around the garden to keep the deere in and the deer out!)

What about the dears?

A bunch of deer tracks, some very young fawn to some obvious big buck hooves.

We had 2.09 of rain from this last system, temp is up to 36 from a low of 26. Took Gracie for a walk all around the property and through the county woods. Everything is wet and soggy. The semi dry creek is overflowing and out into the big meadow behind my property, happens 2-3 times a year.
Some critter is dragging the food pan out of the deck box where I feed the outdoor cats. Last time it happened I found canine teeth marks. Didn稚 see any new ones, maybe a coon this time, not a fox.

Have a good day all, prayers for everyone痴 health.
Buppies and all the other folks with ailments, get well soon.

It was 19° for low this morning. Yesterday was mostly sunny and windy with a high in the low 30's. Today will be sunny most of the day with a chance of snow showers this evening. The high will be in the mid 30's with less wind, I hope.

The wind didn't let up at all yesterday 25 mph +. It made for a interesting drive to town and back with the snow blowing a cross the roads. We ran into some pretty good drifts. There wasn't any point in cleaning up the driveway the way the wind was blowing.

So the plan for today is to clean up the drifts in the driveway if the wind isn't to bad. I think I'll look into making or buying some more snow fencing for next year. May call the state highway department and see who makes their snow fences. I need something more then the little 4 foot ones that they sale at the hardware store.

This picture is from two years ago.

The weekend is almost here. Hope everyone enjoys it.
CWB.

Did I mention I found a Craig's List ad for a big, low hours Cat backhoe for only $11K? You guessed it, it was a scam. All I had to do was google the phone number to find that "Jennifer" had quite the history...

Was her number 867 5309?

RNG- That is great and accurate advice. Thanks for posting it. It痴 unfortunate that Adult Protective Services is sometimes the first responding service agency the aging/disabled individual receives. Meals on Wheels is also a great service for monitoring the aging in place individual. Good luck with the insurance appraiser/adjuster. Last year, after our central heating froze and was repaired/replaced the insurance adjuster came, evaluated the damages, took pictures, and wrote us a check for 80% of the costs on the spot. I hope you receive a similar outcome.

There are two lobes to this now hyped polar vortex. The first is/will be moving into the northern tier CONUS with a clipper system and the second, colder lobe is predicted to impact late week after the inside runner weather system. I would not be surprised to see snow flurries throughout this timeframe.

Ted- Good luck with the pup and today痴 PT. I am icing my knee as I type. The wind around here has not helped my sleep any either.

Thanks for all the pictures posted.

I hope everyone has a decent Friday and even better weekend.

I wonder where I might end up this weekend?

11°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 30° today. Supposed to warm a bit for the weekend, then plunge back down to single digits overnight all next week.

Eric, I definitely remember the Napoleon XIV song, in spite of the fact that it was released the year I was born (1966). I don't subscribe to any of those streaming services. I tried Pandora many years ago, but it was too much maintenance to keep it from playing garbage I don't like. I have almost my entire CD collection on various USB thumb drives, divided into categories (rock, prog, jazz, & classical). So, between those and the Sirius/XM satellite radio in my car, I really have no need for a streaming playlist. I do occasionally listen to an internet radio station at home, Morow.com, which is a progressive rock station out of Paris. It's how I usually find new prog bands I like.

Jay, I've always loved Procol Harem. One of my favorite patches on my Roland synthesizer is a sound called Whiter Shade, and it perfectly mimics that wonderful Hammond B3 organ tone from its eponymous song.

I'd never seen ponderosa pine until our trip to the Grand Canyon in 2011, RNG. What an interesting tree. Saw some fallen ones that were all spiralled up, and read somewhere that they tend to twist under the bark to keep from snapping in high winds.

You guys up north try to stay warm.

23 outside this AM. Heading to 40ish. Ground was like slop yesterday with all the water. Wiped out major time walking to feed horses. It figures. I just laid there with a smile on my face. Until the horse grain started seeping into my mouth. That stuff is all sugar!!
Looks like the wind took some more panels off one building yesterday. So that will be a priority for today and this weekend.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.
DARN! Take it easy
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away

I don稚 know, there is something about operating the FEL that makes you feel like part of the machine, a bionic arm.

Even better is operating the backhoe with a thumb (hydraulic)!
