Good morning!!!!

Hi everyone!

It was about 6F this AM, warmed to 17, and forecast to be a bit colder tonight. We dont have much snow cover here, maybe 4 - 8 inches in the woods, but the slush of a few days ago has frozen and it is quite icy.

I had a good walk on the woodlot yesterday, flagged several standing dead trees and lay downs for firewood harvest. I spent some time reviewing the atv trail through the woodlot, looking at it with a more critical eye toward getting the wider and higher center of gravity Kioti in and out safely with the firewood. I may have to make some revisions.

This morning, I made a couple of dump runs and cleaned up much of the debris generated from Rehab work at my Moms house. I sanded both hers and our icy drives and walk, and made a trip to Home Depot for more insulation and supplies.

I plan to get a tractor plow at some point but decided to fix an old quad plow mount on my 4wd atv for this year. My mechanic friend has mounted the old plow frame onto the newer atv, added an electric winch to raise and lower the plow and replace the old manual lever. He also cleaned the carbs on my generator, gummed up by crappy gas because I did not run it enough.

Tonight, I pulled one of the rear seats in my van so tomorrow I can more easily transport the atv, plow and generator, in the forecast single digits.

Kyle, Happy birthday to your MIL.
My 32’ boat had AC and heat. Up north here the heat got used more on a cold day of fishing.
Sticker on boat listed engines as $240,000.00. I had to look twice to make sure it was the right numbers.

Finally got back on here, been busy here. It turned cold here, no snow really, strange winter here. We normally get a lot more snow. Have a good one!

Good evening all. 42F this morning cloudy, and windy. Winds got blowing pretty good today and have not slowed down much as of this posting. .7 in in the rain gauge, and high temp during the day of 43F. Bike ride early to beat the worst of the wind, short today, just not good riding conditions. Stove duty rest of the day except for nap time. Re-split about 4 pieces of wood for stove. Watched some football with the wife.
Buckeye that is maddening to fly over your destination to go to another city to change planes.
Ron at 120K a peice for the outboards I think 300 hp i/o would be much cheaper.
Kyle belated birthday wishes to MIL.
prayers for all.

In 1980 in February, I arrived at Westlock, Alberta and the people there said that -40 was the warmest it had got for the two weeks before.

Back in the '70s I worked in Alberta in the oil patch. I had to put a cardboard 'winter front' on my highway tractor (1973 IH 2400 series with a 318 detroit). Honest I was only bare handed for about 5 minutes, that is all it took to frostbite my finger tips.

We see plenty of cold weather. This polar vortex thing is just another way of telling us that it would be a good idea to keep your tongue off the steel. Sure it is going to get cold.....It does this every year sometime in January. It will be cold for a couple of weeks, but it will warm up in the day time. When it gets good and cold, then you don't need to worry about snow.

2" of snow so far. We are on the northern edge, 3-5"predicted.

Boys arrived at final airport, waiting on the collage van.

Sure reads like a lot of busy and productivity going on 🤙

Got a chance to look at yesterday’s work (started raining just prior to when we quit) and quite pleased with progress.

Thanks for comments. As you might expect, the probability of getting rained out on pour day is a concern. Lost track of prior reschedules.

Note that tractors were actively present.

Day off to lazy start as our friends from Canada arrived sometime during the early morning between 1 and 2 am. Got caught up a bit over coffee. They will be here 2 months.
Great trip to town with wife. Nice lunch with wife at our favorite sushi place, then success with all the errands both beer and birdseed restocked.

Back early enough to be a bit productive. Got all the existing concrete power washed. These will be cold joints with the new concrete and want to take care the edges are clean, especially from growing mossy stuff. Various sections vary from 5-12 years old.

A really useful weather forecast this morning that had me out at first light to fill the hay racks while it was still calm. I've just got back for breakfast and the wind is already starting to gust.

Bups, air seats cost a bit more, but in the few months I've had mine, I've never once regretted spending the extra cash. Most of the time I go for comfort, although I also set the seat higher to get a better view when using pallet forks. Now you will be searching out the bumpiest pieces of ground just to feel (or should that be NOT feel) the difference :)

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 22° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with partly cloudy skies. May go out and repair power feed to animal barn. Need to get that done in next 4 days. Then bottom is going to fall into below freezing temperatures day and night until sometime next month.

Thomas, sorry you only got one 40° day for January thaw. We had 5 of them.

Looking, those are brutal temperatures. Living near the 45th parallel will give you those kind of temperatures. You would think Lake Huron would give you some protection from that kind of cold.

Buckeye, glad boys made it to their final destination without big delays.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.
