FORTRAN IV, several flavors of basic, TMS 9900 assembly.

TMS 9900 assembly - wow, that takes me back in time. Who needs an accumulator when you can go 16 bit register-to-register ?

Back in the early 80's I used the compact TMS9995 as the main micro, controlling a bunch of slave 8 bit micros to operate/automate coal mining machines. Before they would allocate money to the project I made up a demo system, writing in TMS9900 assembler on paper, then hand converting it to machine code, before entering it in hex on a demo board. It worked well enough to persuade Dresser to give me the money to buy a copy of the compiler Texas were supplying for American military projects. That was the best quality software I have ever worked with (a form of multi-tasking Pascal), just as well as I believe it was also used in missiles.

Ok, sorry about drifting off into computing nostalgia, now back to rural life ...

It's not as cold as I hoped for this morning. The experts had predicted overnight temperatures many degrees below freezing and I had planned a morning with the Iseki on nice firm ground. Instead cloud came over last night, keeping it only a degree below, so I've left the tractor inside until another day. I have had some rusty scrap steel and an old axe head I was given soaking in citric acid for a few days, it's as good a time as any to finish a "Kindle Cracker", based on what someone here showed last year ( RNG ? ).

Don, what a great feeling it must be as it all starts to fall into place. :thumbsup:

Sodamo, we can't help but notice the amount of time you are spending on acid. When that makes your day "ideal", maybe it's time to look at rehab.

21F snowing low 30's for high.
By storm ends late morning 3-4 inches,good clean up after work for heavy rains arriving Saturday.

Poured first cup of coffee. 30° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 36° with partly cloudy skies. Another dusting of snow overnight. No need to get tractor out to clean it up. Got router project started. But could not get warm enough to stay in shop. Will try again today after Ortho Dr visit this morning. 12 weeks after surgery visit. Seems like a year. But arm is getting better.

Don, glad you will soon have some postings in the TODAYS SEAT TIME thread. :thumbsup:

I did not do any programming other than play with DOS. I was the guy that made calls about the darn thing not working properly. I was good at it. Tell the programer what it was not doing correctly and they would fix it first try.
