Good Afternoon Everyone!!!

A surprisingly "warm" 14ºF to start the morning. I had anticipated temperatures to be in the single digits like Roy, but cloud cover moved in earlier than predicted. A light snow started falling late morning. I might see 1 with this short mid-level wave passing through. A NWS "Special Weather Statement" has just been issued for my area cautioning about slippery highway conditions.

Drew- Have a safe trip back home.

"There may be a severe cold outbreak in the mid January-mid February slot."- Randy I've been reading the Climate Prediction Center discussion about next month and beyond earlier today. So far it looks to be an El Nino winter as long as the lower level jet is energized and the upper level jet remains de-energized. Some of the "tele connectors" in the Pacific are starting to reflect a change midJanuary. We'll see.

Right now it seems that the MidAtlantic and southern tier CONUS will continue to see the real weather 谿ソction.

Don- Awesome picture. Thanks for sharing.

Eric- I've seen pictures of those fans and I am considering buying one or something similar. How quiet are those units (not that I can hear much)?

"Dinner was good. But way to much food for 2 older people. Will be eating leftover prime rib for a couple more meals."- RonJ I am happy to read that your doctor's visit and dinner went well. We also had a great meal out last night. I should have restrained myself, but did not; but wifey had enough leftovers to give both of us prime rib sandwiches for a couple of lunches.

RNG- I am happy to read that your doctor visit went well.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My +thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

how sweet it is to be home...
thanks for good wishes, they worked.
ok drive once past super heavy traffic from PA to Richmond, then it thins out. 28 mpg on the Audi, pleased with that since I have a heavy foot, though i use cruise as much as I can. But I do like to pass....;) Car ran fine with that cruise "feature" disabled, thank goodness.

flash flood warning posted here, heavy rain tomorrow afternoon into Saturday. Driveway covered with leaves, a mess, but I'm leaving it until after this next rain. No energy at the moment, just sitting here kind of vibrating from the drive.
I need to go back and reread a lot of pages here.

Nice dinner last night with inlaws. My 91 year old MIL never gets out, never gets taken to dinner, so this was a nice treat for her, even if she could only hear half the words.

I am so tired of eating "restaurant food". Probably all the salt, feel like I should drink a gallon of cranberry juice or something and flush my system. Salad and yogurt tonight. And some home made oatmeal raisin cookies made for me.

To get a MD tax writeoff, i have to donate to one of their approved wholesale dealers.
Looks like american cancer society might get it. They only get about 80% of net, so might not get much writeoff, since pilot has 351k miles. It still runs good, but transmission was slipping when i parked it.

jbrumberg; those 'eco-fans' are almost silent. I used to have two of them. None now.

I am watching a system originating in Texas and so far it seems to be following the Mississippi River. Time will tell.
It stretches from West Texas to Indiana and from the Gulf of Mexico to Missouri, a big system.

Santa Claus crawls on the floor to help a blind boy with autism feel the Christmas spirit - CNN

I have a really nice Santa suit that I ought to use somehow this Christmas, with the white beard I'm a shoe in.

maybe for my neighbor's young boy but I was thinking more for any kids in the women's shelter.

Tomorrow is the Garden Club Christmas luncheon so i have to dress up a little for that, and surely with a red or green flower or something.
At least I don't have to get my hair and nails done...;) I'm going to ask around there if any charity Santas are needed.

I'm sure the hubbub of Christmas is distressing to autistic kids and older folks too. Hope Ed has a good Christmas and it all comes together in a fun way for him. Watching my old friend seriously messed up from Parkinsons and fighting it like a champ just reminds me to be thankful my own medical issues aren't much worse.

Harrier VTOL style jet flying over house, everything starts to slightly vibrate, those are seriously noisy planes up close. They practice landing at the local unmanned airport and then I guess go back to base. Like a helicopter on steroids.

Yeah, it started raining here in the St. Louis area around 11-ish this morning, and the forecast calls for rain through tomorrow and into Saturday. At least the temps are staying above freezing.

1" of snow and bad road conditions and two very close friends unexpectedly showed up following her aggressive chemo for her recently dx'd breast cancer. We've always been part of her world and more so since diagnosis and treatment. "And fighting it like a champ just reminds me to be thankful my own medical issues are" in my case insignificant. She and her husband have a long and difficult trip. I/We am/are honored to be participants. We would appreciate any + thoughts, wishes, and prayers on their behalves.

I hope that clipper will "morph" into something more like this reflection. Based on pattern though it will be wet>frozen here.

Cold front blew in but still worked with no jacket with the hiking club on new trails for 4 hours today, moving rocks, and spreading mulch. Grand opening for the new trail is next month. We get to use the CA mule.IMG_2547.JPG

Good evening all. 57F for the start, overcast, trace of rain fall before I got up, calm wind. Light drizzle in the morning, two lines of thunderstorms in early afternoon, front passage, winds at 20mph going to 25 -40 tonight, high temp mid morning 63F, low temp 42F at 5:30PM. Some chance of winter precip overnight. Trip to town first thing to get my blood draw, then conserving energy rest of day. Dog sitting from now till Sunday, dog is moping big time. Tried to hook up charger for trolling motor batteries, it indicates that charger not connected to battery. About that time rain started, project shelved till later.
To all you weather watchers this system has some energy!!:D
Drew, water works well, sweating does even better to remove salt.
Buckeye, used Boat Angel to get ride of boat, they got more at action then I was trying to get for it! THis was about 11 years ago.
Don look like a nice mule.
prayers for all

Been doing genealogy research the last couple weeks. Ancestry dot com added a glaring mistake to one relative.
Been going thru microfilm of the 1800 - 1830 census records for a couple areas. I need birth records from 1794 for one.

Got car ready to go. Donated it to american cancer society. It's due for tag renewal. Also costing me for insurance.

One son flies home tomorrow for break.

33 here, going to 42 tomorrow. Helped the wife out, then believe or not, finished up the leaves for the year. Darn oak trees didn’t lose the 2 bunch of leaves until last week, and I just got around to mulching them up with the zero turn. By spring, all the leaf dust will have disappeared, becoming dirt. I took the dogs for a walk, and our little terrier found something nasty to roll in. Good thing mom is a pet groomer!

Have a good one!

For the second day in a row we have clear skies and an almost invisible frost. It is great weather for getting things done, yet I am no further on with any projects than I was yesterday morning. My only excuse is that I'm going slower as I still haven't shaken off the cold that my wife so generously shared with me a few weeks back. Spent most of my time feeding livestock and wood burner, then getting ready to do the same today. Not sure where all the other hours disappeared to, they went AWOL before I realised that daylight was about over.

Don, good to hear you are back to working in the dirt. Wonder how long before a few displaced rocks becomes the next Texas Star sculpture.

JB, as L4N says, fan is pretty quiet with stove top at just over 200 Celcius. I imagine there could be more noise if someone did a test to see "would it hurt if I put my finger ... " - although not much more than if they had touched the stove :)

Good morning.
Temp is 27 and going to 32F. Wind S 11 mph. Periods of snow they say. Amounting to 2 cm, I say we will get about 2 inches or so.
That big system I posted about yesterday is gonna roll right over me. Marquette, MI is getting it and so will I.

Eric, 200 C is about 400 F, give or take a bit.
If you stick your finger in the spinning blades of an Eco-fan, you will be sorry. They are metal.
The eco-fans come in 2 and 3 blade models. The difference is in the price. They will both hurt if you stick your finger in them while they are spinning.

Another energy conversation day.

Have a good day all

27 now going to 37 later today. Another wet weekend in the forecast. Haven’t had many workable ones in a while. Furnace gave up after all this cold, luckily it was just the control box. $110 Ouch! Pellet stove kept us warm till we could get the parts. No hot water sucked. We got enough snow yesterday to coat the streets and get the town sand trucks out. Should be a careful commute to work this morning. Hope everyone stays healthy and safe today.
