I tried most of the commercially available organizers that weren't completely stupid on prices (and a couple that were...).

This is what I came up with, zero cash outlay, built out of what I had laying around. Works for me.

I'm getting ideas...

Do most of you still hold on to the old school bent "L" shaped hex key / Allen Wrench, or are you today those out in favor of the ratchet driven hex key? I'm thinking about tossing the old bent L style, i often just go for the 3/8" ratchet drive hex keys.... Should I be using (wasting?) space to store the old bent L style?

The problem is ...... there are still cases where nothing else will work so you still need to keep them around.

I've even had cases were I would have to cut the short side down even shorter and then put a cheater on the long side and apply heat and or vibration (big hammer) to the hub in question.

Yes, I have had that same problem also. I still have a few of those "custom made" allen wrenches around.

Never throw away a tool. You need a separate box labeled "Tools not worth keeping". But seriously, every tool has its day where nothing else will do.
