RK tractors are made by TYM

Not sure if they took a loss, maybe not as much profit. RK is selling them cheaper then Cabelas cleared them out. I think the problem Cabelas had was they set prices the same at all stores. For some products that is ok, but tractor prices vary greatly by region. This was the issue. Cabelas priced theirs above what they could buy the Same TYM machine at a lot TYM dealerships. Although Mahindra gets away with this, they have a better name recognition. There were several differences, but not enough to justify the price. I like the color of the Cabelas tractor more than the TYM red. The difference is RK has priced them to sell them at a much smaller profit than Cabelas did. I don’t think you can find many 55 hp cabbed tractor with a cab for $29,999 with filled tires by many dealers. The Cabelas in my state were selling tractors like crazy, even at the high prices, because they were cheaper than the one TYM dealer in my state.

When I bought my 45H a year ago The price was $23k I had them put on a Top and a brush guard that I paid extra for. I also had to pay to have it shipped from another Cabelas. The gave me a $1500 in gift cards. My total for the Tractor was around $22k. No tax. I think it was a good deal. I don't know what the TYM 45H was selling for at the time.

Cabelas problem was that their pricing was way too high. They were charging Deere prices for a rebadged TYM. I suspect they thought the Cabelas name would carry some weight, especially among buyers who didn't know to shop around or know about TYM. But I think they got their butts handed to them, and it happened long before Bass Pro showed up.

They had no problem selling them in my state at the high prices because if you wanted a comparable Deere or Kubota they want bigger $ and an arm and leg.

That is interesting, Mahindra has sold rebranded TYM’s since the early 2000’s and Mahindra seems to sell a lot of them. Also Zetor just started selling TYM’s also. Wonder how that is going to go. I wish there was a Rural King up here in the Northeast.

I've been shopping around for a tractor and also looked at the Rural King offerings. I have looked at Mahindra, Massey, Kubota, LS, Yanmar and John Deere here locally. I'm honestly not sure what route to go. I will say that I think the front end on the Rural King looks flimsy and bug like lol. I like the design of the Kubota (looking at B & L series) and Massey's the best (1700 series). I need something I can mow with and utilize a loader, brush hog (5ft heavy) and possibly a future grapple on the front. I currently have an IH Farmall 504 row crop with a loader, but it's long over due for tires and a restoration. Plus the bucket is hard on the front steering and I want something more stable and hydrostatic so the wife can use it. I can look past the look of the RK tractor if it functions well and is a good value. My problem is that our RK is a chaotic mess. It's switched managers more times than I can count and it's a revolving door for employees. I hate to buy something from them and not be able to get it service properly under warranty. If they were to use the Mahindra dealer down the road, then I wonder if I should just buy a Mahindra lol. Actually I'm at a loss on what brand to buy. I'd love a Kubota, but they are so much higher and I would like something under 20k with loader and mower

The RK tractors are a good deal, and fromw hat I've read TYM is decent.

HOWEVER - RK has changed what it sells twice in the past decade...some chinese something then massey. When they drop a line there is NO support..our RK is the second largest in the US..and there is no 'tractor department' or parts counter or anything like you get at even the smallest 'real' dealer. That is a concern to me.

Sure, you can get parts from TYM..but if RK drops the brand you will get NO warranty coverage AT ALL. Assuming they have trained knowledgeable techs at the 'hillbilly walmart' in the first place.

I went with Kioti - great rep, dealer is about the same time to get to as all the others (an hour) and much cheaper than kubota with the options I chose.

I bet you could get a kioti CS25 or maybe even a CK25 (bigger frame) for your price range - I got the CK3510hst for 22450 out the door with insurance ($995 for 6 years) and financing (0% 6 years) - the 35 has more HP, higher cap loader, added rear remotes, floor mat, cruise, link pedal, mirror, arm rest, loaded tires, bucket level indicator and quick attach are standard. Mid PTO is an option (for a mower deck).

The CS25 is 16k or so I believe, with loader.

OK - so say you need warranty repair...what do you do?

I've thought about Kioti as well. We had a short lived "Bobcat" tractor dealership here and I really liked the Bobcat version of the Kioti. Unfortunately that venture died about as quickly as it started. I can utilize a finish mower, but a mid mount would be handy. Warranty is definitely important, so that's where I know our local Kubota, Deere and Massey dealers are leading. However, those colors sure cost a lot more.

Nglauer and prof fatalism are the same? Could it be?
Prof is so biased and disparaging against RK, NO serious member would accept any statement he makes as remotely accurate.

Most large store shoppers have no clue who comprises the management team unless there is an issue. Yet nick is keenly aware of any personnel movements even though they may have moved to a new store . Again, one learns management names when there is an issue.

Yet nick or prof fatalism has yet to present one bona fide and verifiable matter where RK has failed on a warranty issue. It is simply poisonous speculation.

If nick is so certain of these alleged management and employee shuffles, please NAME the store where this occurs so it can be verified.
Without facts, meaningless claims are just that.

Previously RK sold two other brands. Defy nick or prof fatalism to name ONE consumer, harmed in those transactions from warranty perspectives.?

These two may bash RK in perpetuity, but devoid of sustainable facts, it is just worthless chatter and noise.

If you have a concern about someone posting from two accounts, report the post and the moderators will have ways to check on this. I am a mod on another forum and this sort of thing rarely happens, but it's a violation of most forum rules so we take it seriously.

It's not helpful to attack the other poster in defense of a large company, as it makes you look bad in a similar way and hurts your credibility too.

Some of the concerns mentioned about RK are valid and worth discussing. We've seen the Cabelas arrangement sour and it has caused problems for several members here on TBN. It's reasonable to ask hard questions about this. In the long term, it will be up to RK to prove themselves worthy. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt but am not going to defend them. I am sure the RK folks knew what they were getting into with this venture. They are a big company and can take care of themselves.
