Costco chicken Noodle soup / InstaPot? Tell us more?

I carve white meat off the chicken all week to make sandwiches, then throw the carcass in the instant pot with a quart of water and some thyme to slow cook overnight. In the morning debone the chicken, add another quart of water, and put the whole mess in the 'frige to congeal any remaining fat. At dinner time, scoop out the fat, put it back in the IP on Saute, add noodles when it starts boiling, and when cooked sufficiently, it's dinner time! Back into the frige overnight again, then bag 8 oz. portions in quart ziploc freezer bags that get frozen for later. That's on today's agenda, and I'll probably get eight bags of quick meals from it. Gotta love that Instant Pot!

Probably better to work out being friends first and let Mother Nature take her course when the time is right, huh?

Well, Mother Nature took her course Friday night and Saturday morning. I’d about had the course by then, old farm gals are pretty feisty!

Good Morning!!!! 41F @ 7:30AM. Sunny to partly cloudy. High around 60F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Nice day yesterday, sunny but a bit hazy, warm enough to work up a sweat when working. More of the same today before David works his Hawaiian weather hose up the West Coast and gives us a good soaking starting Tuesday. We need the rain, but the warm stuff from out in the Pacific is liable to melt the even more needed snow.

Got a note from Bank of America informing me that my "year end" statement was ready for my Visa card. They'd written a computer program that applied somewhat arbitrary categorizations to the past year's transactions and made it available for download. I guess it was supposed to help me with my income taxes, but I finished and filed those last Saturday. Day late and a dollar short again, BofA.

To paraphrase an old lyric, "I poked and I stroked 'till my leg got numb, but I still didn't get no PowerDynamo hum." Tried every trick I knew to get a start out of the old motorcycle yesterday, but didn't even get a chuff. The PowerDynamo twelve volt conversion doesn't seem to be cooperating, and the importer doesn't seem to have any ideas on how to fix it. Rechecked and adjusted the timing, played around with how much if any to tickle the carbs, even used starting fluid, Nada. Flooded it once, as verified by the wet plugs and obvious fuel vapor down in the jug, so I know it's getting fuel. My leg tells me there's plenty of compression. I kicked that sucker 'till I almost couldn't stand up! Pretty sure it's lack of spark, since with the plugs firmly clamped to the heads with bungee cords there's not a sign of a flash. If they won't spark in clean air, not much chance they'll spark with compressed fuel vapor between the electrodes inside the engine. Might be looking at another entry in the returned-for-not-meeting-marketing-claims book.

Better get up and make a new batch of nectar for the hummers. They're almost up to a half gallon a day and both feeders were almost empty by sunset yesterday. Probably should put out another couple feeders so it's not so crowded mornings and evenings when they're the hungriest, too.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

Finished 3 weeks of volunteer committee work at Rodeo Houston yesterday. Now have to clean out truck. Rain slicker, rain suit, rubber boots, cold weather gear, warm weather gear, extra Committee shirts and jackets and numerous other crap.

Many of our livestock exhibitors heading to Austin for more fun.

David how is the Radio class going for you??

Going well
Brain may not be as receptive as in younger days.
Not so much learning in this class as learning the test. Our instructor, another neighbor, is quite smart on the topic as it was his career, but a tad lacking as an instructor. A simple question can quickly get us lost in the weeds. A very interesting character he and wife live at the upper end of our road. Never been there as he has a “gate” across the road tricking people to think it is the end. One of my favorite stories about Themis his telling how he and Sara were long time vegans when they moved from Maui but after 2 years of the local pigs getting the better of their garden they became pork eaters.

Gonna take a bit of studying to pass the test, but I can do it.

Good afternoon everyone-

Arrrrgh- A beautiful day essentially wasted by the MA DMV. I was able to renew my driver's license on-line, but to have a MA "Real (Fed approved) ID" Driver's License required a physical appearance with proof of identity, citizenship, and residence. Too bad the fancy, glossy "Real ID" information brochure mailed to me failed to mention that the Fed ID program starts next week. I would still be waiting in a DMV line if some old battle-ax did not come out of her secret cubicle and ask me "What are you here for?" I told her why and she essentially told me to go away.

Full sunshine today with some upper level haze. Temperatures will probably not get above freezing today. Sugaring season is really crazy this year. I thought last year was crazy when there were a couple of days the sap ran at night due to the temperatures.

I will be very surprised if I see any snow/rain from this week's pending weather system.

David- good luck with the HAM course. The Tech I training manual that I am trying to study is taking me more time than I thought to grok. I forgot a lot of HS physics. :embarrassed: I forgot to post about your corn beef and cabbage picture. It looked like good eats I add more pickling spices and cook corn beef in my old Presto pressure cooker. It takes ~1 hour to cook and cool down and depressurize. I cook the cabbage, carrots, potatoes separately w/o pickling spices I will be cooking a corn beef tomorrow. I make my own horseradish- it will definitely clear the nasal cavities. I process the horseradish with a window open.

"Ed old HIPPIES never die they just fade away or so in told"- Buppies. I believe that many moved to Brattleboro, VT. There are still a lot of them in Woodstock, NY. The ones that I have run into seem to be still groovin'.

Drew- Some of the medicinal (THC) marijuana now sold in MA is stronger than the hashish that was available in the 60's and 70's. I admit to a "few" experiments with consciousness expansion. I cut my ponytail off when I started working the "Back" psychiatric wards.

Randy- Good luck with the relationship(s).

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers for all.

On the topic of robot vacs. Have enjoyed reading about their experiences.

Still really pleased with our Shark RV750 after about 3 months. Not perfect, but effective. Perhaps we just have lower standards than some as I’m not annoyed to come into the living room in the morning to find Sara hung up or have to look for her. Actually this room, 27x42 is combined kitchen, dining, living room. To be honest this room is a nightmare with, appliances, dogged, stools, 3 loveseats, 4 tables, an assortment of 20 chairs, 2 area rugs and who knows what other obstacles. We have this year old white boxer who is convinced that all the house rules applied only to those that came before him and even though there is a no bone in the house rule the floor can look like a boneyard and Sara often is tripped up.
Only real problem is she somehow lost Wi-Fi connectivity at one point and had to be reset. She’s apparently a California girl at heart, refusing to stay locked on Hawaii time, reverting back to LA time. Not a real problem as I just adjusted her time 3 hours and she gets to work middle the night.
Very rewarding to empty her dust bin which is almost always full. Guess having two dogs, a cat, and leaving doors open all the time contribute to that.

Jay
I pressure cooked mine about 1 1/2 hours in the IP, then the cabbage portion another 10 minutes. Excellent, tender, flavorful.

Good deal you will do just fine!! I give test once a month here or as needed. Have you tried the free online
practice test you will be amazed at how they will help. take 1 or 2 a day for practice and you will be ready in no time!

Our Roomba does a good job 3 days a week. Biggest problem, remembering to empty it. Finding way home can take up to 1/2 hour beyond it’s normal 1 hour run.
Maybe because we never gave IT a name it has served us good for 3 years.

I think the level of annoyance is directly proportional to the cost of the device. At $900, I think my level for the Roomba 980 was rather low to start with. The really small dustbin required cleaning every half hour or it quit picking up anything but dust. I could live with that annoyance, and that it put enough dust in the air that I was sneezing for several hours while it worked. But when it bounced off the edges of the large area rugs in both great room and master bedroom, it wasn't even trying to clean them. That was the straw that broke the Roomba's back, and that's why it was returned for a refund. :muttering:

Good afternoon, Had a fun day today. Wife ordered a weight machine so she can work out from Walmart. They sent a text saying it was in and I went down to get it. They loaded it on the truck and when I got home I read on the box, for 3 to 10 year olds. That got me to looking and I found that the weight machine had turned into a swing set. Put it in the garage and wife went to meeting about mom being depressed and just grumps at people and won't do rehab. Called Walmart and they said they had the machine, was looking at it right then. When wife got home I took the swing set back to Walmart but they could not find the weight machine. Had a good talk with the manager and took a pic of his name card and got him to sign a paper saying I did not get my order. Had a good chat with him and enjoyed it. Supposed to get it soon.

Hay does anyone know a good way to clean carpet in a pickup. I have an 01 dodge that I like and I have only done about $300 worth of repairs. It was my work truck when I built houses and it got pretty dirty. Now that I am a city dude :) I thought I ought to get it clean.

Have a great evening Ed

. . . . probably get eight bags of quick meals from it. Gotta love that Instant Pot!

One day all a kitchen will need will be one Instant Pot. (or two).

Nothing in the live raccoon traps.

Got out bidded on mom's scout.

I kind or wanted something with bigger tires anyway but couldn't pass up bidding that started out at $25. We bailed out at $390.

Any suggestions on a yard runabout. She does not want a golf cart and she needs a swivel chair.
