Curious if anyone here is on Dish and has Hopper 3?
Our Hopper/Joey system was installed in 2012. With the new software interface seems slower than molasses - wife not happy at all.
Chat with agent confirmed it was the old hardware. I wasn’t happy with the upgrade price offered, suggested it might be time for me to check out Directv. Supposedly a note added and suggestion I call Loyalty Dept. kinda irks me that my bill has increased $40/mon and all I have to show is old equipment and poorer service.

That is not crappie, it's a silver perch. That is what we called them at home. Ed

And the first time we met some folks from Baton Rouge who became good friends, and we got to talking about fishing, he said his favorite was sac-a-lait fishing in a batou. I finally learned he meant crappie fishing in a jon boat.

42 going to 59...got sleet yesterday after all...enough to keep me from taking the tractor and chainsaw out. Forecast calling for snow Wednesday.

Andrew, have fun at your shooting competition.

David, that corned beef makes an IP sound like an even better investment.

Drew, will you cover up that shut off valve, or build a box or something?

Kyle, great pic of son and fish...

Bird, nice of you to cut grass next door. I used to do that as my full time job...got paid $3 per yard in my neighborhood growing up...using a 3HP B&S on a 21" mower...including edging with a push edger and sweeping with an old broom...sometimes I'd get a tip up to $4...saved enough to buy my first car that way...after years of mowing...I pretty much had the whole neighborhood (those that didn't do their own) until a new kid moved in.

Did my son's taxes for him yesterday, then he hit the road back to New York. He "bought" my wife's old SUV while here and loaded it with more stuff to move out of his old room...makes my wife happy so she can redecorate. He found a box of his old school papers...essays or poems he'd written and had a blast re-reading them now.

5 going to 30 Wind E 6 mph. Partly cloudy and foggy. Clearing later.

I need to go to town today and pick up a parcel that somehow got forgotten last week.

I bought a security camera system yesterday, 8 cameras and a DVR. I am curious what goes on at night around here, now that we don't have the big dog anymore.

Happy Sunday all

Forgot to start coffee brewing again.:ashamed: 18° with some with clear skies this morning. Heading to 54° with sunny skies all day. I got about as much done as I had planned yesterday. Hope to get a little more done today. Then watch some NASCAR. Probably the last 30 laps. Neighbor stopped to visit with their granddaughter. A real cutie. What wife and I noticed was how our dog came to life playing with her. 2 hours of play. Miss that. Now that all our grand kids are in there teens and 20's. Should have taken some pictures.

Bird, lots of names for Crappie's. Other names for crappie are papermouths, strawberry bass, speckled bass or specks (especially in Michigan), speckled perch, crappie bass, calico bass, (throughout the Middle Atlantic states, and New England), sac-a-lait (in southern Louisiana, lit.

David, good looking meal.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

44 going up to 59 today, cooler day, rain just left the area and headed offshore and North.

Guessing we got about half an inch of rain last night and the storm had enough thunder to wake me up at 2am.
Which means stick patrol this morning. Plus I see I got a dose of trash out on the front roadside. The season begins in earnest
when these misfits see nice lawns. They don't throw their crap in the weeds, they look for nicely tended spots.
I think it's some kind of nose thumbing, don't know. Jay?
Jay, I was a psychology minor in college, and love to figure out why folks do what they do.
First, I figure they are pigs and misfits because that seems to describe folks who intentionally throw large quantities of trash out.
Secondly, they must have a bad attitude towards life, no nice person would litter like this.

So one has a pig who isn't very nice.
Now there's someone who deserves a 250 dollar ticket.

It's just how to catch them. My front road is well traveled, too much for game cams.
but it might be worth taking the one I have down at the barn and put it out by the road for a while.
Our state does not have front license plates so it makes ID very difficult.
And the local police don't care. I've already had one contact with them about this.
Even had the credit card slip in the bag. Nope, visual ID only. We are busy.
Lot of folks at the police station just sitting around and moving in slow mo when I was there.
I must admit I saw no donuts...;)
Not my version of busy, but these are the good guys and all I've got locally so I guess I have
to get high tech here. Meanwhile all this fast food trash, beer bottles, chew tobacco tins and cigarette cases
are given to me perhaps as treasured gifts. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding these nice folks.

More likely the proper penalty is to pour an entire garbage can of trash on their heads while they sit in their cars.
With the windows up. Isn't that what a sunroof is for?
Clearly a training and educational moment is needed...

headed downtown later to get some grass seed to fix the water pipe trench mess. Need to find some centipede to mix in, very expensive grass seed.
But sooner or later it takes over here. Have to fix and repair with other grass though, centipede is a rhizome and takes a while to send out those roots.

As they say locally, may you have a blessed day. Perhaps that should be capitalized but I'll take it in the universal meaning
that you be blessed by whomever or whatever you want to be.
I think blessings and prayers can never hurt, only help.
Definitely sending some out to Riptide and his wife, and Ed and his family.

I mean look how well our blessings did for Toppop! There's proof.
Life is an adventure, Randy is getting back to enjoying his and that's all good.

Eric: those pics of the lamb were awesome..."so cute" as the wifey put it. Do you normally keep the newborn lambs inside for a while?

The sheep go up to a friend's farm where they have enough space for the lambs to be born inside and kept under cover for a couple of days. After that I get them back in batches of typically 10 ewes and 20 lambs. If the weather is bad I can then hold them back under cover in pens for another day or so before they go out into a field. Occasionally one will go and lay down in the wrong place and get hypothermia. If I find them in time I try and revive them in front of the kitchen range. It doesn't always work, this year bad weather has hit at just the wrong time.

I bought a security camera system yesterday, 8 cameras and a DVR.

L4N, Good luck with night vision, my pro installed one isn't so hot.
I live alone and when I travel, being able to log on and see that no band of gypsies has camped out
in my front or back yard is reassuring...;) Or that a tree hasn't fallen. My neighbor checks daily anyway and my camera
system records to the cloud. First system was local but easily defeatable by a crook.

You may get some great pics of critters, hope you can share some with us.

Wingsprd, installed in a large rectangular green plastic box, I'm guessing 10X20, so valves are easy to get to,
though I have covered it all in brown garden mulch and put a garden critter on top. House water shutoff is
right under the big snail.

Drew, I’m one mike from the transfer station and I gave the same problem with trash. Bags from McDonalds and whole bags of garbage.

Looks like the nor'easter predicted for Wednesday has dissipated. Clear cold week ahead of us

Good morning. All is white around here, the track up to the road has filled up overnight with more snow than I would want to drive through in my wife's car. I won't be driving mine through it either, as for the first time in decades, I haven't got one. The RAV was a nice 4 wheel drive hybrid and I confess I was a little sad to wave it goodbye yesterday, however it is now tasked with keeping our daughter's family safe in this bad weather. She wanted a bigger vehicle to cope with her expanding family and now it is hers to keep. If only the grass would start to grow - I could do with a mowing job like wngsprd to pay for a smaller replacement :)

Kyle, great to see he caught a good sized fish. My older grandson is about the same age and has an almost identical front toothless grin at the moment.

Drew, once a second LED flash (1 Hz) is a nice steady "heartbeat". If the controller is also supposed to flash to indicate too high an input, then I expect that would be a faster rate. As Ron says, you can't reliably check battery state from a voltage measurement once it has been on charge without leaving it for quite a while. You could measure it when you get up to take a leak in the night - just don't go splashing near the high voltage wires

Oh Boy! Today is National Sloppy Joe Day. :cloud9:

Had to look that one up.

Can't imagine the equivalent Australian delicacy, Sloppy Joey, is too popular with kangaroo lovers

My dish receiver is older than the hopper, 722 hd recorder.. I own my receiver. They offer to upgrade me to hopper for free, they neglect the part about paying rent on the equipment.
