Slow wimpy winter so far, but enjoying whatever time I do get on the new (to us) machine.

I bought the 5740 for the cab, didn't care about the "HST +", but now I would.hate to give up the split HST ranges (Hi-Lo within a range). Good idea Kubota.

Eric, that plow is an 8 ft FFC. It has a sequencing valve so both cylinders can be controlled by a single hydraulic circuit.

I went out to clean up a couple sloppy inches of snow. Ground was to soft to plow so I was using my back blade to just push some of it out of the way. Wondered why the blade all of a sudden angled. Upon closer inspection broke a couple welds. Looks like it's time to do some fixin.

Eric, what were the snow conditions during your "cute driveway plowing" that you needed to turn around and use the blower. Just trying to learn the conditions to plow with. I have been using snow blowers, but next winter I will have a 1/4 mile to 3/8 mile long driveway to plow with a manual blade on the front of a B26TLB. Right now there is no place to push it off to. If the banks get too high, I just have to get the BX2230 out with its front blower. Enjoy your snow, we did not even make it to out normal snow fall this year. Jon

it was around 20 degrees F. The snow can pack.

Anyway, first plowing push the snow away as far as you can because subsequent snows may take up the road space. If you get to a point where it is way too much work to push the snow banks back, then it is time for the snow blower.

Whenever you can use it, use a plow as plows are much faster than blowers.

I did a (admittedly not exhaustive) search on this and couldn't find anything. Can you give a brief explanation of what this is/how it works?

I just got it myself....I press the go pedal and the RPMs increase the further I push the go pedal down....just like a car.

Wow. Seems like a lot of really nice features, as long as they work as advertised.

I still am skeptical of computers doing analog work, in spite of the fact that my "gas" pedal has not been connected to the engine in my DDs for, oh I don't know how long, at least 10 years.

When I was wanting to get rid of my hydro shuttle shift M6800 for a fully hydrostatic drive I was naturally looking at the kubota of course....becuase I have had good success with that brand. When I settled on this used L5740 Grand with Cab I didn't even know these features existed. What a pleasant and awesome surprise. Neat stuff. I have only fooled with it out in the driveway etc. but I can only imagine how handy it would be plowing snow or doing loader work etc. Shoot even the wife can do it.

Its a great transmission and i dont think i could live without it now but its kind of half amazing and half gimmick. Having 2 speeds in each range is worth is weight in gold but switching between them on the fly is slow, unpredictable, and does some weird jerking. The auto down shift can actually be dangerous if you're doing any delicate work so i never use it and only manually shift with the paddle shifter. The auto throttle advance is pretty good. the L3540 i used to run had a cable operated advance and that was pretty bad because it made the pedal much heavier but the l6060 i think is all electronic so it doesnt change the pedal feel at all. The only issue i find with the electronic throttle advance is if you're working on bumpy ground it'll have a combined effect of the engine rpms and the pump flow when your foot bounces on the pedal causing some lurching so i opt to usually just run at pto speed if the ground isnt flat. Maybe the stall guard would serve a brand new operator but i dont find a use for it. and last, the hst response control works really nice and consistently. i didnt realize how much i rely on the hst response until we got our b2920 and i'd keep jerking to a stop because i'd pull my foot off the pedal thinking it would come to a nice easy stop.

so, with about 2600 hours with that transmission i'd say stall guard and auto down shift are a no and the shift between high and low could use lots of improvement but everything else about it is amazing. Oh, except the stupid 2 button control setup that they switched to in the 60 series. the 40 series controls are nice though.
