Warning for Firefox users

/ Warning for Firefox users #51
I downloaded FF 57.0 last night. Now my Copy and Paste functions don't work (Cnt C and Cnt V). I'm about to go back one iteration. Anyone know how to do that?

That's exactly why I dont like the idea of changing/downloading anything on my 7 year old HP Windows 7 Laptop, I'll stick with what I have, Google Chrome, Adblock Plus<<<sofar that still works good even on Youtube, for the past two years I can play a Youtube song without listening to a stupid commercial that I have totally no interest in.

A few years ago I somehow got Bing on my com and I had popups binging all over the place, got rid of that but it took awhile, had to go back ten irritations by speaking in tongues at the same time.

  1. Back up your bookmarks.
  2. Backup any saved passwords.
  3. Log out of your user account.
  4. Log in to your administrator account. (If you are using an account with admin privileges for everyday activities, you are begging for trouble.)
  5. Go to your Control Panel, and select, "Programs & Features".
  6. Find Firefox in the list.
  7. Right click on Firefox, select "Uninstall"
  8. Once the uninstallation completes, close the control panel.
  9. Reboot.
  10. Log in to your administrator account.
  11. Open an Windows Explorer window.
  12. Navigate to C:\Program Files.
  13. Find the Mozilla directory.
  14. Delete it.
  15. Reboot.

Now you can install the older version.

Hmmmm ..... I have two XP Pro machines still running but Firefox says that I can't update them. I guess I'll have to try putting 54.01 on one of them.

My Bad: I'm running Windows 7 Pro, not XP. Must have had a brainfart, have noidea where the XP came from.

I went back to 56.0.2 and won't go to 57.0/Quantum until they get the bugs out.

Based on the warnings on this thread I avoided updating Firefox until yesterday. I have been getting notices to update to version 56 for weeks, so I decided yesterday to do it. After I did I got a notice that version 57 was available, so I installed it. Apparently in the process version 56 was not deleted and the computer would periodically lock up. I uninstalled Firefox, then downloaded version 57 again. It seems to work pretty well so far, tho not 100%. Supposedly this version is faster than previous versions, tho I haven't noticed any improvement while surfing the web. What I have noticed is that my computer is operating much slower during non-web operations than before. Anyone had a similar experience?

A couple weeks ago, I went back to firefox to do something, normally use Chrome, and after installing the 57 update, took about 3 times as long to load pages. Computer had the blue screen of death on Friday, so my new computer doesn't even have firefox downloaded or installed.

I've noticed significant improve in Firefox speed while surfing and have not noticed any effect on non-web operations. Been using Version 57 for 2 months. The only thing I don't like about 57 is that they killed most of the pre-57 extensions. Have spent several hours tweaking it to get some pre-57 functionality back. Perhaps your non-web problem is related to lack of memory? Use Task Manager to determine if you are running out of memory which would cause paging to disk. That would slow everything down.

Things seemed to go pretty well until I changed to the later version of Firefox.

I have been unable to do much surfing this afternoon. Firefox seems to just stop. Task manager says memory usage is 50% or less. CPU usage is 100%. There are four firefox.exe entries, one of which is using 90% or more of CPU time. The light indicating disk activity is off most of the time. I am unable to get very far into to this forum using Firefox. I am using Internet Explorer right now. Think I will look at Chrome and uninstall Firefox.

cpu usage is your issue. kill all firefox process's or reboot the computer, cpu should never sit at 100%
