I cut and split a trailer load of wood for my grandpa. It’s a 5x8 trailer so a tad less than a cord. People were probably questioning my hauling method. View attachment 535176View attachment 535177

5x8x3 (I'm guessing the average height is 3' from the photo) would be just shy of a cord if neatly stacked (120 cu ft vs 128). Thrown in, it'a probably about 2/3 of a cord.

The average height was between 32-36” inches. So I’d figured it’s between 100-120 cubic feet of wood where the cord is 128.

A cord is 128 cubic feet when neatly stacked. It takes up more than that when thrown loosely.

Holy moly! Love to see a pic of his wood stove!

Actually right after this video he came over and requested that we make him some "all-nighters". Apparently these weren't big enough. So, I noodled some 24" rounds in half and threw them in a pile for him. I tried reminding him that in 2 years when he burns this stuff he'll be 74, but he couldn't be dissuaded. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. It made the splitting go pretty fast though.

Here's a video my friend made today. We're splitting some oak at his house in Minnesota. He like big splits for his enormous wood stove.

Sure looks like it! Those lower splits off the 4 way would be too big for my use. Very productive operation you have.

I see the one guy is using a Hookaroon,I just got one last week, what a handy tool for firewood.

I will never be without my 30" logrite pickaroon when I'm processing wood. What a back saver. I ordered a couple of Peavey pulp hooks last week hoping to use them on this job, but apparently Peavey makes them to order. :(
