As far as weights go, there is a town in the Bay Area that won't allow " trucks over 1 1/2 tons" on their streets unless doing a specific delivery. What does 1 1/2 ton mean? Most cars weight more than that. A ton and a half truck can carry way more than 1 1/2 tons of weight. My one ton Ram is rated for nearly two tons of cargo. Empty it weighs almost 4 tons. Does the limit apply to the actual weight of the empty truck, or it's rated GVW, or the cargo? Do they allow cars that weigh over 1 1/2 tons?

Exactly, just what does it mean? Gross weight, weight rating, nominal weight (1-ton truck, 2-ton truck, etc)?

We never had occasion to think in pounds of gold working at our scale.

I have a prospector friend in Australia. When visiting him he showed me several glass jars with nuggets. My guess is that each weighed about 1.5-2 kg. Gold was about 1900 USD/toz at that time. He had 250 to 300 K in his kitchen cupboards. He uses metal detectors to find the nuggets. He also has few buckets of bullets found in the same location. They prospect on mining leases. The mining company doesn't mind as long as they tell them about significant find. He told me a story about two prospectors who found a mother lode of gold. Covered that up and waited for the leases to expire. Then bought all the leases a round and came there with backhoe and bulldozer and dug out millions in gold. The mining company sued them but it was hard to prove that they knew about the gold while the mining company held the lease so they won.

With all this tank of exploding propane, I knew of a situation once where an acetylene tank exploded inside a vehicle. I don't have a picture of that but this is one I grabbed off the 'net. Can you imagine?

He's going about 25mph (40.2336km per hr). Our first pic was the one behind. Then next was passing. Then we pulled off and waited till he passed for the passenger side/front right angle. Even more impressive was the fact we passed a sheriff deputy on the side of the road that did nothing. But again maybe there was nothing illegal about it.

Also 580 bans trucks over 9000 GVW... which would cover a lot of pickups now days.
