Really no plans today, might trim some banks and ditches or just take the day as it comes.

Enjoy the day all.

71 and cloudy. Headed to 84. No rain, and not even any dew today. But first day not hitting the 90s in a while.

Plan to walk about with my backpack sprayer and hunt some ivy. Need to use my leftover gly mix, sometimes it gets some slime after a while.

Epic day is a good description for something like this. But I bet it is also a sad day in many respects. Hope all goes well.

I've been thinking on Don's parents too. They had a long good life together, raising their children and tied to the seasonal movements of cattle.
Others might have retired earlier, gone to a condo in Tampa, but they stayed put. My parents passed long ago but most of my friends are going through this now as parents
get into their late eighties and nineties.

I hope Don can get his Dad into a golf cart and let him watch, if he is able.
We are all pulling for you Don.

One of my grandmothers lasted nine years in a nursing home with severe dementia.
My wife did a two year daily watch as her father dealt with Parkinsons dementia.
Takes a great deal of patience and some sadness control to deal with this.
You just have to hope for the best and plan for the inevitable.
Sure does give meaning to making the most out of every day.
Good to remind ourselves of that every morning.

off to town

Good morning all, 66 going to 80 today, much cooler:) Did not make it to the grocery yesterday. Wife found a big pile of cloth on Craig's list and had me go get it. Half hour from here. There was a wreck on I81 an it took over an hour to get around it and get home. Try to get to the grocery this am.

Don. Praying that the cows act well and for your Mom and Dad, know this has to be a hard day for them.

Have a great day. Ed

Don, that sounds bittersweet. On the positive side, they did right making a life of it.

It's a mild 75 outside today, the big push of the cold front last night just sort of filled the sky with a massive grey cloud line at sunset. No rain, maybe Monday. I managed to tackle the front fence line, road and ditches with the weed whacker yesterday. That job, wiped me out. Today, a few errands, pool supplies, food and a stop at the big box store for batteries. Maybe later, the back will get the weed whack job it deserves and is waiting for.

Hope all have a great day, it's the w/e. Somewhere someone said in my life, "you are suppose to take it easy on the weekend".

Be safe today.

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 5:30AM. A mix of clouds and sun. High near 95F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Thunder woke me up at about 3:00AM, but no sign of rain on the radar map. The earlier forecast was calling for showers, but nothing showed up in the rain gauge. Don't like the thought of lightning this time of year. The little town of Quincy, CA, about 60 miles up the Feather River canyon to the east, was issued voluntary evacuation orders last night because of the Minerva Fire, started by lightning last week. 2600 acres burned, 1400 firefighters on the job. Hope they don't lose the fairgrounds; I'm signed up for a motorcycle rally there weekend after Labor Day:eek:

Good Luck with the roundup, Don. The older we get, the more difficult change becomes. But in some ways I don't envy younger people at all, what with the way the world is going.

Finished shooting the satin black on a batch of parts yesterday, but by the time the second coat went on, it was too hot and the paint didn't level out very well. Most of the parts were pretty rough castings so it doesn't show, but the two lever perches will probably have to be redone. Today I'll try to get some primer on some parts I had to patch with body filler, and also shoot the semigloss black batch of parts. That means an early start, and probably a siesta this afternoon.:)

Installed a HomeKit compatible wall switch for the ceiling fan in the master bedroom yesterday so I can make sure the fan isn't left on. To get back the multi-speed capability provided by the old switch, I also installed a remote controller in the fan housing. During all this I learned that the pull chain speed control on the side of the fan had been set to medium, meaning all the speeds from the wall switch were operating at only half speed. Now the low speed is about like the old medium speed, and I'm not sure I like all that air movement when I'm trying to sleep. :confused2: Don't know if it's all the smoke in the air or if it's just dust, but I've been sneezing a lot lately. Could just be that I'm also building up the dose on a new bottle of antigens for the allergy shots, kind of a mini version of what Farmer's going through now.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend...:drink:

54°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 81° today. (yes, 54° in August) Again, I'll take it.

Going out to mow this morning as soon as the dew subsides a bit, while The Wife starts painting in the basement. She actually likes to paint, and I actually like to mow. Working out great for both of us today. The electrician is here today, too, getting more stuff wired.

Forecast is calling for rain after midnight and into tomorrow. May squash our golf plans for tomorrow morning.

Have a safe weekend, guys.

Need to pour first cup of coffee. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76° with sunny skies. Did not get much done yesterday. Trimmed some of the branches off bigger limbs. Then took rest of day off. Back at it today. Should get it cleaned up and chipped today.
Sam's Club is having a 1 day sale. Ordered some LED utility lights and a Air Fryer. While the warehouse is less than 5 miles away I'm letting them ship the items to me. Must be the weather change that has me in lazy mode.
RNG, Sams Club has a pellet BBQ on sale for their 1 day sale. Since I got a pellet BBQ have not used the gas BBQ.
Good Morning All.

I ordered one of the air fryers as well Ron. I'm cutting back on oil fried foods.

Also grabbed a set of the Pioneer Bluetooth headphones for tractor use while mowing.

Pioneer Bluetooth Over Ear Headphones - Choose Color - Sam's Club

Is the Pellet BBQ same as the one you have?

The low this morning was 48*, yesterday high was 88*. We did get the wind yesterday. Forecast calls for more today with partly cloudy skies. Going back to the upper 80's

Went up and helped the guys work on the neighbors house for a few hours yesterday. The house is more like a two story 4,000 sq ft cabin, all logs inside and out. The contractors ran the electrical wires but didn't put in all the boxes or lights. Just the easy ones. They guys are cutting holes in the logs to get stuff to fit.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

64 right now...high will be a much cooler 73 degrees and a high probability of thunderstorms.

Chores will be a dump run in a couple hours. Then, I need to figure out why my pneumatic grease gun isn't pumping.

After that's done, I'd like to tackle some more of that bamboo and the field mowing. That will be somewhat dependent on the weather.

If all goes well, I'll be heading up to my FFL this afternoon and picking up a Ruger SR9C

Are you still happy with your flail mower Roy?

I'm going to visit local Land Pride Dealer next week.
