In my later years I've reverted to smaller projects but they can also be fun. The jig to cut the spool notches ( which need to be a perfect book match ) was nearly as much fun as making tape dispensers. Learned that notch thing on the first one and told self, self let's think about this for a minute. Made several dispensers over the years as gifts and they need to weigh at least 13 oz with no skid shoes.
SandburRanch , we had a grade 12 student that was with us in the shop for a few months last year . He surprisingly enough had a passion for making wood bodied hand planes and he was quite good at it .He would hunt down old blades online and then build a plane around it . Put a smile on my face to see a young guy jumping into the trade . Big or small the craftsmanship is there and I agree , making a good jig can be just as satisfying as the project itself.
