Sears Selling Craftsman Brand

The plating on my Craftsman combination wrenches that are about 10 years old is falling off and the wrenches are rusting badly.

Sears has been in a downward spiral for many years. K Mart emerged from bankruptcy back in 2003 and "bought" Sears. I always thought it was kind of like a drowning man being thrown an anchor.

Young people are shopping online and Sears' online presence, delivery, and service is not good. Both my daughters compare and order online for most of their merchandise. Compare the same thing at Sears, Lowes, and HomeDepot and there will be a huge difference in cost, delivery, etc..

That is their downfall.

I disagree. Please see link. I put "buy" in quotations in my original post because in some articles and reports it was called a merger but in fact, K Mart bought Sears.

Kmart Corp., struggling to emerge from bankruptcy less than two years ago, is using the strong gains in its stock over the last 18 months to buy its larger and more established rival.

The deal brings together not only two retailers that have struggled in their competition with Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Target, it combines two of the biggest holdings of Lampert, who has shown an eagerness to invest in underperforming companies.

They did at one point, at least the one I went to as a kid did. When they decided to hire Rosie O'donnel to be their spokes person she made them drop the guns and ammo. I think they did bring back some but not like it used to be.

I rarely go to a Mall alone or with my wife. But when that occasion comes up, I spend my time either in the center of the mall people watching or perusing the tool section of Sears.

I only go to Malls now when I want to get carjacked, credit card numbers stolen or gang banged. There's also the parking problems, traffic controls, food court messes and overpriced products.

If Costco starts selling good tools (they've already started) I can live out of my local Costco store. Friendly employees, good prices, good food ($1.59 hot dog + soda), cooked chicken, dog food, beverages, softener salt, drugs for us and the dogs, tires and batteries, clean bathrooms and gas. Now if they just had a car wash....

The Kmart in my hometown (Granite City, IL) is on the list. My ex-mother-in-law worked there for many years. In fact, she died there; walked in the front door one morning, got about 10 steps inside, and had a heart attack. I always thought about her when I went there. Haven't been there in probably 10 or more years, though, since I moved out to greener pastures.
