The electric steering (these trucks do not have power steering like old) went out at 65K. Cost $1800 to repair and Ford would not help even though the truck was bone stock and had never been abused or driven in anything that could damage the steering like high water etc. No reason given, it just failed.

Ouch! It's amazing how useless the warranty is on these trucks.

Don't they only give a 36000 mile warranty on non-powertrain parts? If so it was pretty far out of warranty so I can see them not covering it. (Not that it should break and hate hearing anyone gets a bill like that)

Well here we are trying to continue our travels. The truck ran really well for about 5 days. I plugged the hole we drilled in the intercooler and I've been cleaning the MAF sensor fairly regular because of all the oil that is still in the pipes from the turbo to the intercooler (and beyond?). Anyway, yesterday without towing our trailer, had two misfires climbing a mountain. Then shortly after that the Check engine light came on and shortly after that the wrench came on - both stayed on. Got to the next hill and found I had very limited power. Pulled in for the night, hooked up the trailer this morning and at engine start both the CEL and wrench were on. I had very little power to climb out of the campground and then basically rode first gear down the 5 mile mountain to the nearest town. O'Reilly says that there are three codes now: P007D - CAC Temp Sensor Circuit High Bank 1, P0237 - Turbocharger/Supercharger Boost Sensor 'A' Circuit Low, and P054A - Cold Start Exhaust 'B' Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced Bank 1. There is no boost, I had to floor the pedal to move just barely off a stop light to get across in time before the light changed again. Took it to a local mechanic.

All my oil changes have been done by Ford in my hometown. I believe it is 5W-30 oil but not sure of the brand

Yes, I know. I guess I am saying it seems likely that Ford or any other maker seems to allow parts to fail just after warranty expiration. I know Dodge has a lifetime warranty on some of their trucks - does not include wear items of course. My ecoboost powertrain warranty was 5 years/60k miles.

If you have an Android smartphone (or tablet), you might look at something like Amazon.com: Veepeak Mini Bluetooth OBD2 OBDII Scan Tool Scanner Adapter Automotive Check Engine Light Diagnostic Code Reader for Android Windows: Automotive and the free Torque app so you can read the codes yourself as they happen.
There are similar adapters for the iPhone/iPad.

BandannaMan - I'm surprised that your issues continue and somewhat disturbed that no one seems to be getting your ecoboost problems resolved completely. You would think there is enough experience out there to tackle the problem based on all the ecoboost sales.

Another reason why when looking at new ford F-150 trucks last year I only looked at the 5.0 V-8 engine.Not sold on the echo boost idea yet.
