Woke up & found windows was installing #10, nothing I wanted, but no way to stop it.

Now I am stuck with this piece of crap. Hate it.

It ate solitaire game & it is completely gone. Simple little thing down load another 1. Nope, tried 2 or 3 different & none of them can be found

I really don't like Microsoft, but have no choice any more.

If 1 of you know how to uninstall this garbage,

Please let me know. At wits end.

Thank you.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection can be found in the STORE app. It's free.

To get your old "my computer" icon back on the desktop, click start and type "desktop icons" and click the "show or hide common icons on the desktop" that appears at the top. Choose what icons you want displayed.

If I remember right (and I wouldn't take any bets) that's how I got it to start with, but now I just click on the little box (windows icon) at the left end of the toolbar and it shows up along with a lot of other stuff.

Yea, once it is installed, it is there to stay unless you reload the OS for some reason. And then it is easily retrieved from the Store again. It's not a huge deal once ya realize there is a process to acquire it.

Give it some time, I am not a fan of upgrades but I believe Win10 is a better OS then previous editions. Go to your privacy settings and you can shut off most of the public footprint apps WIN10 comes with. I little tweaking and I have found it to be faster, easier and cleaner to use.

another hour wasted. Finally found classic solitaire. Says free trial or $1.49 Trial does not work.

Spent even more time on removers & re-installers, nothing there that could possibly work. Down loaded a couple that might have worked. Guess jealous windows ate them.

Guess i will have to put with this highly flawed program.

Thanks for helping. Actually have things more important than playing computer. :)

In general I'm very skeptical of Microsoft upgrades. However I have done the Win 10 upgrade on 4 of my personal computers, some from Win7 and one from Win8 (at work we are sticking with Win7) and have had no problems. I can't say I'm in love with the standard screen but I was easily able to work with it and make it look enough like Win7.

Let it upgrade several of my computers to windows 10, it becomes easier. the search button in lower left has helped me often

I Googled "uninstall windows 10" and found several sites. I would go with the Microsoft suggestion. Early on I googled "remove windows 10 update". I followed instructions and removed the update from my update list. I am still on Win 7 and am not prompted to install 10. Back in the day when I was a network administrator there is no way Corporate would allow an update to a new OS without extensive testing. If it is not broken don't fix it.

Loss of solitaire is the only reason you hate Win 10? Really? Download FreeCell Solitaire from cnet.com (download - games - card and lottery section). It is free. Or buy a deck of cards and enjoy it the old fashioned way. Win 10 is just fine. Get your themes and display settings done, get your software icons you use on the desktop and you won't know the difference from XP, 7, 3.1, or Vista.

Lots of background checking going on to "try" and keep your system up and running. All my "old" software from XP and 8 works fine. Office 2007, Imgburn, Savings Bond Wizard, Macrium backup, Irfanview, etc. There is a bit of a learning curve for system logs and device manager if you use those things, but if you use those, you will figure it out pretty quickly. Good luck !!

Would like to try a Mac at some point just to learn it and see the difference.

Very true, today the approach where consumer software from apple, google, mozilla (firefox) updates continually and also breaks more frequently, and that has so lowered consumers expectations around quality control, stability and such, that corporate environments are inevitably moving in this direction too. Thoroughly tested and mostly bug free software is a thing of the past, while the vendors are all requiring NET HIGHER annual subscription costs for poorer products and even worse support, and impose forced changes like win 10 on their customers. After nearly 3 decades working during the rise of pc and corporate software implementations, this sure seems like the fall, in actual value derived from a given investment.

Glad I have automatic updates turned OFF... As far as I can see, Microsoft just hacked thousands of computers....

Switch to Linux Mint, you'll never look back.

Removed the check box for the win 10 update, but no 'apply' capability to commit that change, so I chose a random small other update to install with win 10 deselected, then "apply" (or similar button) for that and win 10 was installed anyway. It did ask to revert to 8.1 in the EULA, so I could have gone back at that point. For 8.1 --> 10 the desktop was preserved after 10 was installed, and overall not a huge PITA so far.
