Good morning!!!!

sure slept better in my own bed last night. And woke to a gorgeous hot Spring day, 58 now going all the way up to 85.
My new fruit trees get planted today, plus I need to rewater what I planted last week. Not much rain recently, sort of unusual and I'm sure being
careful what I ask for...

Buppies, if I still had the diesel dually, which was their biggest model, could tow 30k pounds, I probably would have bought something too big just because I could tow it.
My current half ton is so much easier to drive than the dually and if I have to go smaller, well that saves me some money. And it did, the trailer I bought on Monday costs about one third what a nice fifth wheel camper does. More money left over for another persimmon tree...

Ok gotcha but all that power and the growl of the Cummings diesel would be a great lure to me but logic prevails

45 and foggy, going to 80.

Eric, glad Max is recovering nicely.

Took the blade trimmer out for a couple of hours yesterday to cut hundreds of little saplings flush with the ground in the fields. Amazing how tall little pines, oaks, maples, cherries, and gums can grow since bush-hogging these fields last spring - had some gums and cherries that were 4 to 5 ft tall, some pines 2 ft. Still have one more big section to do. I know the hardwoods will sprout again, but betting the loblollies will not since I'm getting them cut even with the ground, which the bush hog can't do. Have been picking up the saplings and adding them to one of the brush piles. Then I'll bush hog the tall grass and weeds. When the hardwoods leaf out, I'll need to hit them with a shot of gly.

Plan to go to a friend's retirement party this evening.

no, you are right, it was a serious hoot to drive, with 4.10 gears it moved right out. But handling was ponderous and it was impossible to park downtown.
And twice I had guys come up to me at the pump and ask me if I was hiring... No, I'm retired but glad you liked my truck. It was definitely an Alpha truck and the locals, 98% of the men have trucks, like Texas probably, it had street cred. Not that I cared...but I'm a car buff so I'm aware of this stuff. For me it was a tool to pull a fifth wheel and I decided I didn't want anything that large. The extra width was a problem and this time I also had a max priority on comfort. So I'm pulling with a "gentlemen's truck" and not a purpose built tow vehicle like I had before. Which I could have easily spent six figures on a fifth wheel which would have been logical since I easily could pull it.
Luckily my financial logic prevailed and I have downsized. The growl of the Hemi is an acceptable alternative...;) About 19mpg on my trip, which was ok particularly with $1.69 regular gas in lower VA.

I bet Eric would like some $1.69 petrol...has it at least come down there too Eric?

Thanks for the welcome guys. Ben a very rough couple months with lots of stress. We are Mama and daddy to my wife's autistic brother and he has had a rough time. Broke some bones and between the bone pain and med side effects It has been very hard. Still working through the side effects and ...........
Your welcome actually made me feel better. been a while of just putting one foot in front of the other. Got someone to stay with him later today and my wife and I are going out to eat together alone for the first time in 4 or 5 years. Again thanks for the welcome, I needed that. God bless you all. Ed

Again thanks for the welcome, I needed that. God bless you all. Ed

There's always a seat here for someone new, lots of booths and tables here at the diner for tractor buddies
More the merrier, but you'll do some serious reading to keep up...;)
Welcome aboard. I believe that seat has your name on it.

if I may pry slightly...
your family and house in general Ed have been in pain, hope it slowly works out. You truly have your hands full
and I hope that any outside assistance available is used to help you get some personal quality time. You have to keep
smiling and that's hard when you see no light at the end of the tunnel. So we'll all send our best wishes that resolves
well for you. Drew

your little town of 433 is a bit smaller than my birth town of New Hope PA with 1800 but I understand small town life.
Your area is simply gorgeous and you can head North or South to larger towns. So I guess you just try your best to focus
on all the good stuff. I had to learn how to do that while my wife was dying of cancer. To keep your balance
you have to focus on other positive things. Things that endure. And for sure it doesn't always work.
But when medical emergencies occur and behavior goes out of control
and upsetting things happen it's like your life is turned upside down.
Remember that you and your wife are ok, more than ok...
RX: at least one hour of quality seat time on your Massey. Dr. TBN

54 this morning and headed to 66.

Ground is still too wet to do much but drying quickly. But that's good as half my birds leave today. Roads are dry and hard to that's good for trucks.

Eric. Our Jack Russell isn't full blooded either and he's a house dog. But like yours a large bark. He's twice as tall as a standard Jack and just as grumpy. Weight about 30 lbs. he acts as if he doesn't like our son but if the wife and I are home with no boy he worries about where the boy is.

Drew. Don't expect to hold that 19mpg with a camper. But you should do ok. Nothing like the rumble of a Cummins but I also like the quiet of some other models.

farmer2009; Nothing like the rumble of a Cummins [/I said:
with the new 8 speed trans, at 35 mph it was idling along at some remarkably low speed,
and I felt like I could feel every thump thump thump thump of the individual cylinders firing,
reminding me of the YouTube train videos where you hear the very low bass notes of the big train engines.
It was a marvelous engine for sure though having to add DEF is a PITA. I wish they could solidify the DEF chemicals and inject
them in some other way so we don't have to lug around all this useless water. I make my windshield washer fluid out of little pellets
303 makes, about 25 cents a gallon that way. I understand how it is sprayed in, but maybe they can reinvent his mousetrap a little better.

time to get going. You all have a nice day.

Good Morning. 0820, sunny, 69F with 99% humidity. Forecast high of 86F with 20% chance of rain today, and a low of 63F tonight.

I'm doing the pre-cleaning lady cleaning thing this morning. I got most of my planting done yesterday, but I do want to get my sole remaining Chinese orange tree in the ground today. I put 48 seeds in soil the other day, so I should be able to keep more than one alive this year.

You guys have a good one,

Larro
