Tractor
Kubota Tractor Loader L3560 HST+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor, 5,400 pounds operating weight, 37 horsepower
I blundered across this list of defunct tractor manufactures on Wikipedia.

Tough business.

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #3
Wow! All the more reason not to jump on these never heard of start-up brands.

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #4
This does not surprise me as it goes back to all the first models. At one time there were 160+ car manufacturers in Indiana alone.

The other thing that stuck out at me is that anyone who would buy an ACME tractor never watched Wylie E. Coyote.

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #5
That list surprises me but then when I was into farming in northern Louisiana, there was a choice of Allis Chalmers, Ford, John Deere and International Harvester (Farmall), Oliver (no dealers anywhere close) and one Minneapolis-Moline dealer. John Deere and IH were the leaders followed by AC and Ford in no particular order. There were no other brands available to even consider in the 50s-80s and even today in that area. I do know that there is now an LS dealer there where the old AC dealer was.

Some of those on the list may have only been walk behind type, like lawnmowers there are lots of mfgs. for those.

David Bradley would be an example of walk behind / lawn mower manufacturer on the list.

I did notice that Montana wasn't on the list, perhaps because the didn't actually build any thing.

Ain't that the truth!

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #10
Lamborghini got it's start building tractors

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #11
Several on that list i would be happy to own - Steiger, Volvo, Versatile

think i'll skip the ACME brand but

already have 4 on the list now.- Ford , Rhino international, Gilson, Co-Op oops

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #12
I did not see Yanmar or power King on that list.

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #13
I guess yanmar won't qualify because they are still selling tractors (my bad sorry) but power king was awesome and to my understanding have closed up for good.

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #14
You forgot the Hoyt-Clagwell. They only made one and it looked a lot like a Fordson. :D

Or the OTHER one in the beginning of Green Acres was a John Deere GP model...

/ Defunct Tractor Manufacturers #16
For europe this list seems not to be correct. Mercedes-Benz is in business by building tractors for Ag-Use

And that Fendt shouldnt´exist is new to me:

Willkommen bei Fendt Deutschland - AGCO GmbH

BTG was not GDR, was a West German manufacturer in Bavaria, B ayrische T raktoren G esellsschaft (bavarian tractor company), which made tr4actors from parts of the Jeep after WW II

Borsig only was busy in tractors between 1921-1925,

Yanmar is still built! They are sold under their own name worldwide, including the USA now that they bought out their partner MTD in the Cub Cadet/Yanmar j.v. Yanmar builds compacts for John Deere, too.

I put together that list on wikipedia and also found on http://tractors.wikia.com, and there have been changes since I put it together. It does need some updates. Power King and Montana no longer sell tractors, but as someone noted, Montana never built their own. They were in the process of buying the Universal UTB factory in Romania, but that fell through.

And Fendt should never have been on the list... a mistake. Mercedes-Benz may built the Unimog for Ag use, but they don't build tractors anymore. The Trac tractors were nice looking tractors!

The Hoyt Clagwell was based in Fargo, as I recall. Oliver would climb the pole, call them, and actually get blood on the other end of the line. Those were the days!

Many manufacturers were bought out or amalgamated. That is not really defunct as in going out of business.

I will NEVER, EVER understand the Ford to NH name change.
