Harbor Freight Quick Hitch Upgrades. 160lbs removable weights can still you pto with or without weights. Cat 1 to 2 pins with 1" washers welded on ends approximately 5.50 per side = 11.00 per set to go onto implements vs 20.00 plus dollars for spacer / coverter kit. Even more expensive at TSC. 1st time posting trying to add photos.

I'd like to see your weight system, but you can just use 1-2 and 2-3 adapter bushings on the CAT 1 pins, held on with linch pins. No need to weld on a washer. The other side of the implement won't let the pin slide out of the hook.

Here's some pictures of the quick hitch with weights in, still need to weld peices at the top on both sides to secure the weights in place.

Going to weld a peice across with holes in them and weld a cut off bolt onto the weights so I can remove them whem I want.

Had to drill the bottom Lift pin holes to 7/8 because Harbor Freight has them under sized.

Interesting weight system. I would weld a handle on each weight, too.

Here is a diagram about what I meant by saying you don't need the washers. The left pin's shoulder keeps the right hand pin from slipping out of the hook.

I welded a 1.5" extension to the back of my top hook & drilled new holes in the extension. That way the QH frame doesn't hit the ompliment frame on some of my implements. Replaced the bolts with some pins so I can adjust it quicker for oddball implements.

Welded a garage sale Quick Hitch to a garage sale SSQA plate. Its now the mounting pivot for my snow plow. Handy for moving, loading & working on implements too (always have a 2ndary support for safety in case of hydraulic failure if you are under the loader or an implement).

Very good idea. Post back how it works out after u use it a bit.

I made a rack; full width of the QHof 4" X 1/2" bar with brackets and pins to add it to the back. I add up to 500# of suitcase weights (50# each) just hanging them up in the weight I need. I have the BH on now so can't get a picture. Working on a similar arrangement for the front of the tractor. It will hook on where the front QH for snow plow/blade attachments. Same arrangement is planned to put them on other implements like the RT and BB.

Quick on/off ballast for when I need the loader, or forks on the loader, in very tight space. I have four of these 75 lb wheel weights. Its easy to roll them from the side of my parking area and mount them like this. (I bought them to mount inner/outer on the wheels but ended up using a different set).

Also 16 ten lb weights off an exercise machine. I should make a rack like MRIRich's, or maybe vertical pins on the trailer hitch crossbar that goes in the QH, and stack them there.

I thought about ballast blocking the pto but I haven't had an instance where I needed ballast when a pto implement was attached.

Yeah the next thing I'm going to do is the top hook modification. I am going to make a Utility insert like the heavy hitch system. I wanted to have weight and still use the pto with my rototiller so it doesn't bounce around so much.

I added about 100# to my friends tiller at his request, he likes it.

Yes I picked up Some heavy metal to weld to the top hook like you did, haven't got to it yet weather in Ohio changes all the time & I don't have a big shop to work in @ this time. I think I've seen your Pics with the SSQA plates welded to it Very good idea. My loader is pin on but I want to change over to the SSQA then I'll pick up another QH & modify it like you did.

That sound interesting, can you still hook up 3pt attachments with the weights on? The 4" by 1/2" bar is mounted on the side closest to the tractor I take it then? I thought about doing it that way, right now the price on scrap metal is down & is cheaper to buy the metal I did @ $.10/Lb. than to buy factory weights @ 1.00/Lb. or more. I goto auctions & I can actually goto my local dealer and buy weights cheaper than @ a auction which is crazy but true.

Thanks for the info Bruce, I'll try the 1 to 2 & 2 to 3 Adapters out sounds like it might even be a little cheaper yet.
